Kaplan has an extensive background in complex criminal and regulatory defense litigation involving white collar and antitrust matters, in state and federal courts in Florida and around the country. At McDonald Hopkins, she will be joining an experienced and growing team that includes former federal and state prosecutors who have spent decades practicing in the white collar area. "Robin is an extremely talented criminal defense attorney with impeccable credentials. Her wide-ranging criminal defense skills will be a uniquely valuable asset as we further expand our presence in South Florida and nationally," said Bruce E. Reinhart, co-chair of McDonald Hopkins' White Collar and Government Compliance Practice Group. Reinhart is a nationally recognized trial attorney and distinguished former federal prosecutor.

Raquel Rodriguez, managing member of the firm's Miami office, added "Robin's decision to come to our firm has grown our capabilities in Miami greatly, a city where some of the most important white collar cases in the country are often filed."

Kaplan has acted as lead trial lawyer in a variety of trials, most recently successfully obtaining an acquittal for an attorney in a complex mortgage fraud case in the Southern District of Florida. In addition, she co-tried a groundbreaking case in which the defense secured an acquittal of all 141 counts against a medical doctor.

"Robin is an aggressive, experienced litigator who fights for her clients' best interest," said Jeffrey A. Neiman, a partner at Marcus, Neiman & Rashbaum. "She is practical in her approach and is professionally well regarded."

Kaplan's cases have involved complex tax, antitrust, wire fraud, mail fraud, RICO, money laundering, Sarbanes-Oxley, drug trafficking, bank fraud, healthcare fraud; as well as alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FDA regulations, and the Arms Export Controls Act.

South Florida Legal Guide named Kaplan a "Top Lawyer" this year and a "Top Up & Comer" from 2009 to 2013. Kaplan is chair of the National Women's White Collar Defense Group of South Florida and is a member of the Federal Bar Association's South Florida Chapter, where she serves on the board and is chair of the women's committee.

Kaplan earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami where she was an editor for the International and Comparative Law Review, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Florida State University.

More and more companies are looking to microservices as an architectural pattern for breaking apart applications into more manageable pieces so that agile teams can deliver new features quicker and more effectively. What this pattern has done more than anything to date is spark organizational transformations, setting the foundation for future application development. Internet-of-Things discussions can end up either going down the consumer gadget rabbit hole or focused on the sort of data logging that industrial manufacturers have been doing forever. "We build IoT infrastructure products - when you have to integrate different devices, different systems and cloud you have to build an application to do that but we eliminate the need to build an application. Our products can integrate any device, any system, any cloud regardless of protocol," explained Peter Jung, Chief Product Officer at Pulzze Systems, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
When it comes to cloud computing, the ability to turn massive amounts of compute cores on and off on demand sounds attractive to IT staff, who need to manage peaks and valleys in user activity. Between 2005 and 2020, data volumes will grow by a factor of 300 – enough data to stack CDs from the earth to the moon 162 times. This has come to be known as the ‘big data’ phenomenon. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to handling, storing and analyzing data aren’t adequate at this scale: they’re too costly, slow and physically cumbersome to keep up. Fortunately, in response a new breed of technology has emerged that is cheaper, faster and more scalable. Yet, in meeting these new needs they...
The cloud promises new levels of agility and cost-savings for Big Data, data warehousing and analytics. In her session at @BigDataExpo at @ThingsExpo, Hannah Smalltree, a director at Cazena, provided an educational overview of emerging “as-a-service” options for Big Data in the cloud. This is critical background for IT and data professionals...
"Once customers get a year into their IoT deployments, they start to realize that they may have been shortsighted in the ways they built out their deployment and the key thing I see a lot of people looking at is - how can I take equipment data, pull it back in an IoT solution and show it in a dashboard," stated Dave McCarthy, Director of Products at Bsquare Corporation, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Fact is, enterprises have significant legacy voice infrastructure that’s costly to replace with pure IP solutions. How can we bring this analog infrastructure into our shiny new cloud applications? There are proven methods to bind both legacy voice applications and traditional PSTN audio into cloud-based applications and services at a carrier scale.
