New 6-part series MY CHICAGO from the producers of Check, Please! to premiere on WTTW11 and wttw.com on Friday, April 25 at 8:30 p.m. CDT

CHICAGO, April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It is something a lot of us do when a friend from out of town visits Chicago. We take them to see all of the city's famous landmarks and exciting sights. But if they are a really good friend, we might give them something extra – a personal glimpse into of our own world living in the city. Often, these tours are the best of all.

Odette Yousef and Mark Bazer, hosts of the new weekly series My Chicago, from the creators of Check, Please!, premiering Friday, April 25, 2014 at 8:30 pm CDT on WTTW11 Chicago and wttw.com/mychicago.

That's the concept behind MY CHICAGO, a new half-hour local series from the producers of Check, Please! and WTTW Chicago. MY CHICAGO is a "talk show on wheels" in which alternating hosts Odette Yousef and Mark Bazer drive around Chicagoland, interviewing two famous, notable, or simply interesting Chicagoans who tell us about their life in the city. The series premieres on WTTW11 and wttw.com on Friday, April 25 at 8:30 p.m., its regular time slot.

Each edition of MY CHICAGO contains two stand-alone segments. Our "mobile set" is rigged with three cameras, and our guests and hosts, Odette and Mark, are inquisitive, fun, funny, and smart. The audience will experience authentic, unrehearsed conversation along a fun, lively journey into Chicago's diverse neighborhoods, where our hosts and guests may get out of the MY CHICAGO vehicle, giving the viewer a personal perspective they might never have gotten otherwise.

Guests during this inaugural season include New York Times bestselling author John Green; Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke; grocery store magnate Bob Mariano; Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle; Rep. Luis Gutierrez; local media triumvirate Phil, Dan, and Anthony Ponce; and many more. Visit wttw.com/mychicago for web extras, photos, additional content, and to watch the show.

Mark Bazer is the host/creator of The Interview Show, a live talk show held monthly at The Hideout, in Chicago, and occasionally at Union Hall, in Brooklyn.

Odette Yousef is a reporter for WBEZ, Chicago Public Radio, covering the city's North Side and the people who live there.

Ask someone to architect an Internet of Things (IoT) solution and you are guaranteed to see a reference to the cloud. This would lead you to believe that IoT requires the cloud to exist. However, there are many IoT use cases where the cloud is not feasible or desirable. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Dave McCarthy, Director of Products at Bsquare Corporation, will discuss the strategies that exist to extend intelligence directly to IoT devices and sensors, freeing them from the constraints of ...
Technology vendors and analysts are eager to paint a rosy picture of how wonderful IoT is and why your deployment will be great with the use of their products and services. While it is easy to showcase successful IoT solutions, identifying IoT systems that missed the mark or failed can often provide more in the way of key lessons learned. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Peter Vanderminden, Principal Industry Analyst for IoT & Digital Supply Chain to Flatiron Strategies, will focus on how IoT de...
One of biggest questions about Big Data is “How do we harness all that information for business use quickly and effectively?” Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or spatial technology is about more than making maps, but adding critical context and meaning to data of all types, coming from all different channels – even sensors. In his session at @ThingsExpo, William (Bill) Meehan, director of utility solutions for Esri, will take a closer look at the current state of spatial technology and ar...
For basic one-to-one voice or video calling solutions, WebRTC has proven to be a very powerful technology. Although WebRTC’s core functionality is to provide secure, real-time p2p media streaming, leveraging native platform features and server-side components brings up new communication capabilities for web and native mobile applications, allowing for advanced multi-user use cases such as video broadcasting, conferencing, and media recording.
19th Cloud Expo, taking place November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA, will feature technical sessions from a rock star conference faculty and the leading industry players in the world. Cloud computing is now being embraced by a majority of enterprises of all sizes. Yesterday's debate about public vs. private has transformed into the reality of hybrid cloud: a recent survey shows that 74% of enterprises have a hybrid cloud strategy. Meanwhile, 94% of enterpri...
Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...

Much of the value of DevOps comes from a (renewed) focus on measurement, sharing, and continuous feedback loops. In increasingly complex DevOps workflows and environments, and especially in larger, regulated, or more crystallized organizations, these core concepts become even more critical. Cloud computing is being adopted in one form or another by 94% of enterprises today. Tens of billions of new devices are being connected to The Internet of Things. And Big Data is driving this bus. An exponential increase is expected in the amount of information being processed, managed, analyzed, and acted upon by enterprise IT. This amazing is not part of some distant future - it is happening today. One report shows a 650% increase in enterprise data by 2020. Other estimates are even higher....
Creating replica copies to tolerate a certain number of failures is easy, but very expensive at cloud-scale. Conventional RAID has lower overhead, but it is limited in the number of failures it can tolerate.
