DALLAS, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, today announced that it will host a reception with Ernő Rubik celebrating innovation and the 40th anniversary of the Rubik's Cube. This invitation-only event will take place at 7:00pm on Monday, April 28th at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Rubik and G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan, will address the audience preceding a dinner reception, followed by a meet and greet session with the guests.
"Mr. Rubik's invention epitomizes the power of innovation," said G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan. "We are excited to honor Mr. Rubik on his milestone 40th anniversary of the invention of the Rubik's Cube and thankful to have him represented among our portfolio of global clients."
About Ernő Rubik
In 1974, while a young professor of architecture in Budapest, Hungary, Mr. Rubik created an innovative solid cube that twisted and turned but did not break or fall apart. The first model was used to help him explain spatial relationships to his students. With colorful stickers on its sides, the cube got scrambled and thus emerged as the first "Rubik's Cube." It took well over a month for Mr. Rubik to work out the solution to his puzzle. Designed primarily as a mobile sculpture symbolizing the stark contrasts of the human condition—bewildering problems and triumphant intelligence, simplicity and complexity, stability and dynamism, order and chaos—it ended up becoming the world's best-selling toy ever.
