LXI Consortium and TSE Plazotta Developing an LXI Reference Design

NIWOT, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/22/14 -- One of the strategies of the LXI Consortium to achieve its vision of LXI global adoption and utilization is to provide a "technical blueprint" for vendors to use when building LXI instruments. We have exciting work underway in the LXI Technical Committee to develop a reference design and implementation for use by the consortium member companies. We recently completed the requirements-definition and planning phase, and have signed a contract with TSE Plazotta to develop the LXI Reference Design and Implementation. The LXI Consortium will conduct regular reviews and offer guidance to TSE Plazotta during development. Additionally, we are proud to announce that TSE Plazotta has joined the LXI Consortium as a Participating Member.

Since 1985, TSE Plazotta has developed custom software for technical applications. Currently, TSE Plazotta consists of several seasoned software developers, who have experience in markets such as communications engineering, telecommunications, and instrumentation technology. They have developed applications in Windows, Unix and embedded systems.

A few of the major benefits of the LXI Consortium providing an LXI Reference and Implementation include:

  • Ensuring more Test & Measurement (T&M) LXI-conformant instruments are available to our customers, enabling them to have a lower cost, consistent, predictable, and multi-vendor interoperable experience when building network-based T&M test systems.
  • Enabling existing and new LXI Consortium members to cost effectively, develop and maintain LXI instruments that support the LXI "Core" and "Extended Function" capabilities.
  • Enabling the LXI Consortium to more easily work with its membership to evaluate new and emerging network technologies as additions to the LXI Standard and deploy the additions to the membership through the LXI Reference Design and Implementation.

Steve Schink, President of the LXI Consortium, says, "The LXI Consortium and LXI Standard have had great T&M industry adoption success to date. As we prepare for our 10th anniversary in 2015, we welcome TSE Plazotta and are proud to be working with them and our member companies on the LXI Reference Design and Implementation. This will help us fulfill our vision of continued LXI global adoption and success in the decades to come!"

Jochen Wolle, Co-Chair of the LXI Reference Design Working Group, who has worked with TSE Plazotta in the past, adds, "We are very excited that TSEP joined the LXI Consortium and is currently working on the LXI Reference Design for the LXI Consortium. This is a great step forward to help vendors to adopt their devices to the LXI Standard."

Peter Plazotta, founder and Geschäftsführer Dipl. Ing.(FH) of TSE Plazotta remarks on joining the LXI Consortium, "We are very proud to have the possibility to realize the LXI Reference Design. We produce software for the LXI standard since the Version 1.0 was launched in 2005 for several instruments. Now we have the great possibility to be a part of the LXI Consortium and be able to contribute with our ideas and knowledge to the LXI Reference Design. We are looking forward to design and implement the LXI Reference Design."

David Owen, Co-Chair of the LXI Reference Design Working Group, adds, "Work starting on the LXI Reference Design marks a significant change in emphasis for the LXI Consortium. Previously the Technical Committee has focused on providing a stable and capable standard that reflects the needs of users, from there we created supporting information to help users understand how to put LXI systems together. We are now moving into a phase of making it simpler for vendors to adapt their products to LXI. This has the potential to significantly expand the number of vendors participating in the creation of LXI products."

Information technology is an industry that has always experienced change, and the dramatic change sweeping across the industry today could not be truthfully described as the first time we've seen such widespread change impacting customer investments. However, the rate of the change, and the potential outcomes from today's digital transformation has the distinct potential to separate the industry into two camps: Organizations that see the change coming, embrace it, and successful leverage it; and...

We are always online. We access our data, our finances, work, and various services on the Internet. But we live in a congested world of information in which the roads were built two decades ago. The quest for better, faster Internet routing has been around for a decade, but nobody solved this problem. We’ve seen band-aid approaches like CDNs that attack a niche's slice of static content part of the Internet, but that’s it. It does not address the dynamic services-based Internet of today. It does...

What happens when the different parts of a vehicle become smarter than the vehicle itself? As we move toward the era of smart everything, hundreds of entities in a vehicle that communicate with each other, the vehicle and external systems create a need for identity orchestration so that all entities work as a conglomerate. Much like an orchestra without a conductor, without the ability to secure, control, and connect the link between a vehicle’s head unit, devices, and systems and to manage the ...
