Connell Brothers Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement to Introduce Immunity Boosting SGS(TM) Glucoraphanin from Broccoli Seeds to Asia

Hong Kong, Apr 23, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Connell Brothers Company (CBC), the largest distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients in Asia-Pacific announced today that it will begin marketing and distributing the SGS(TM) brand of Broccoli Seed Extract in Asia. This innovative nutraceutical ingredient was born out of research from scientists at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and further developed into a growing commercial opportunity by Brassica Protection Products LLC. With this new cooperation, CBC will launch SGS Broccoli Seed Extract to the growing health and nutrition markets in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore Taiwan, and Vietnam.

According to Research, the global herbal supplements and remedies market is forecast to reach $107 billion by the year 2017. The Asia-Pacific market growth rate, led largely by China and India is set to pave the way with the highest CAGR of 10.5% through 2017, compared to Europe and the US. CBC sees great market potential in SGS, a patent-protected nutritional ingredient, designed to induce the crucial protective enzymes in humans.

"The growing middle class and affluence in Asia-Pacific as well as concerns among consumers for safety of products indicate to us a great future in high end, high quality nutraceutical products." Alex Grantz, general manager, export, CBC, said: "We are very proud to partner with Brassica that represents the high caliber suppliers CBC seeks to work with. Our pan-Asia coverage and technically trained staff can efficiently bring to multiple markets technologically advanced products to capture the growth in Asia-Pacific."

"We are excited to work with CBC in Asia as we believe they have the sales and technical resources needed to successfully market and sell high value nutraceutical ingredients such as SGS," says Brassica CEO, Tony Talalay. "We believe SGS is ideally positioned for today's Asia markets that are seeking natural solutions to health needs."

SGS(TM) Broccoli Seed Extract is available at professional channels in the US. It contains glucoraphanin, a phytochemical naturally found in broccoli. When consumed, Glucoraphanin converts to a potent antioxidant and cellular protector called sulforaphane. These enzymes eliminate many types of free radicals and environmental pollutants and trigger ongoing antioxidant action.
