NEW YORK, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ – Chris Scardino, American Media, Inc. (AMI) Executive Vice President and Group Publishing Director today announced the appointment of Christopher Dolan as Publisher of Muscle & Fitness. Mr. Dolan joins AMI from Scout, where he most recently served as Digital Director and Group Publisher overseeing the digital strategy for multiple brands.

"Chris has a proven track record of preparing quality print brands for their digital present and future," said Mr. Scardino. "This is an exciting moment for Muscle & Fitness as the brand unveils a full redesign with the July/August issue that underscores our authority and heritage to cater to today's deeply engaged fitness enthusiast."

"Muscle & Fitness has a unique combination of history and authority that has allowed it to report on and take part in the biggest strength-training and fitness trends of the past several decades," said AMI Consulting Editorial Director and CEO of Galvanized David Zinczenko. "The latest redesign continues to build on the brand's extraordinary reputation and reflects our commitment to delivering on that promise for the new breed of fitness enthusiast."

Prior to his role at Scout, Mr. Dolan was responsible for the development and growth of print and digital brands in the Home & Garden Group for Reader's Digest. Under his tenure, group print revenue increased 44 percent. He also oversaw the integration of the Haven Home Media vertical ad network, creating integrated marketing platforms and new digital products that helped to drive a 100 percent revenue increase in its first year.

"Men are flocking to the idea of being at their best in all aspects of their lives and Muscle & Fitness is perfectly positioned to drive this trend," said Dolan. "This is a performance-driven male community committed to success, and I'm excited to put in front of them the editorial content and advertiser brands that will help them get there."

In addition to Scout and Reader's Digest, Dolan has also held management and sales positions at Meredith Corporation, JM Associates, Time 4 Media, and the Taunton Press. Mr. Dolan will report to Mr. Scardino.

"Muscle & Fitness is currently undergoing its most significant brand growth in its 75-year history," said Muscle & Fitness Editor-in-Chief Shawn Perine.
