Anyone pre-registering the .London address with the ICANN accredited UK domain name provider will be given a professional email package free for a year as part of their domain name package if they are successful.
Sarah Haran, managing director of Easyspace, said: “It’s a must for businesses and organisations of all sizes in the Capital to link themselves to one of the greatest cities in the world. Berlin has already been one of the most successful domain names ever launched and .London promises to be even bigger.”
Easyspace is part of one of the UK and Europe’s leading cloud companies, iomart Group plc, which owns and operates a network of UK data centres, including one in the city of London. iomart is due to launch its own .London web address.
Phil Worms, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications for iomart, said: “It is hugely important for iomart to have a .London address in order to capitalise on business opportunities in one of the world’s largest commercial centres. The rise of local search and identification as a local business means that while it’s important to keep a .com and .co.uk web address, it’s also vital to have .London.”
Everyone can apply for their .London domain name right now on the Easyspace website. Priority will be given to London-based businesses and organisations and then London-based individuals before it is opened up to those not located in the Capital.
London and Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation for London, will manage the new Dot London domain name through a subsidiary company, Dot London Domains Ltd.
Gordon Innes, Chief Executive of London & Partners, said: “We want Dot London to become the Internet address of choice for business and individuals with a connection to the Capital. For the first time, businesses, organisations and individuals will have the option to choose a domain name that puts London at the heart of their branding and benefits from a clear association with our city’s global brand.”

We all know the latest numbers: Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 6.4 billion connected things will be in use worldwide in 2016, up 30 percent from last year, and will reach 20.8 billion by 2020. We're rapidly approaching a data production of 40 zettabytes a day – more than we can every physically store, and exabytes and yottabytes are just around the corner. For many that’s a good sign, as data has been proven to equal money – IF it’s ingested, integrated, and analyzed fast enough. Without real-ti...
