Auterra Inc. Welcomes Dr. Humberto Vainieri as a New Board Member

SCHENECTADY, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 04/28/14 -- Auterra Inc., a clean energy company that is actively developing catalyst and process technology for the upgrading of heavy and sour crude oil and oil distillates, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Humberto Vainieri to its Board of Directors.

"We are honored to have Humberto join our board, and provide his assistance as we advance the development and commercialization of Auterra's FlexDS desulfurization and upgrading process," said Eric Burnett, CEO and Board Chair of Auterra, Inc.

President of Vainieri Consulting, Dr. Vainieri brings more than thirty years' oil sector experience to the Auterra Board, and has worked in R&D, plant operations, acquisitions & divestitures, and executive management roles in several of the oil sector's most successful global companies. He has held posts such as Senior Vice President - Global Refining in BP, President & CEO of UOP, and Senior Vice President - R&D and Engineering in Yukos.

"I've been involved with the company for several years as an advisor. I've been impressed with their oxydesulfurization technology and commercialization progress. FlexDS is proving to be a viable alternative to hydrodesulfurization technology in the removal of sulfur and other impurities from a variety of heavy oil feed streams," said Dr. Vainieri, "and the company has great potential in the oil & gas industry. I look forward to providing insights and advice where I can."

In addition to his recent appointment to the Auterra Board, Dr. Vainieri currently serves on the boards of Rive Technology in Cambridge Massachusetts, Chemrec in Stockholm, Sweden as well as on the advisory boards of Maine Pointe, Hart Energy, and the University of Pittsburgh Engineering School. Dr. Vainieri holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and also an MBA from John Carroll University.

"Humberto brings a wealth of senior business and technical expertise to the Auterra Board," said Board Member Gregory Hulecki, General Partner with FA Technology Ventures. "His oil business acumen will be a tremendous asset to the company as it grows."

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.

To get the most out of their data, successful companies are not focusing on queries and data lakes, they are actively integrating analytics into their operations with a data-first application development approach. Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder.
