CEA’s D.C. Policy Week Kicks off with Tenth Annual Digital Patriots Dinner

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA):

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ® kicks off a week of policy and technology events in Washington, D.C. tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29, aimed at highlighting innovation before members of Congress and the DC tech policy community. Event highlights include a dinner to honor public policy and industry leaders for their support of innovation in the consumer technology industry, a Lobby Day to advocate for pro-innovation policies, and technology exhibits to bring the excitement of the CEA-owned and produced International CES® to the nation’s capital. The annual International CES, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies.

On Tuesday evening, CEA’s tenth annual Digital Patriots Dinner will honor Senators Amy Klobuchar and Rob Portman, and VOXX International Corp. Chairman and Founder John Shalam for their roles in advancing innovation and supporting a legal and regulatory framework that allows tech innovation to flourish. As a platinum sponsor of the event, Samsung will showcase their new U9000 65” Curved Ultra HD, 4K TV at the Digital Patriots Dinner. A list of all event sponsors can be found here.

All proceeds from the Digital Patriots Dinner will be donated to the CEA Foundation, a public, national foundation affiliated with CEA that links seniors and people with disabilities with technologies to enhance their lives, and the Fisher House Foundation, a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.

The events continue on Wednesday morning, when CEA’s Board of Industry Leaders and Small Business Council congregate on Capitol Hill for Lobby Day. They will spend the morning advocating for the Senate to pass strong patent litigation reform legislation.

Following Lobby Day, CES on the Hill, an invitation-only tech showcase produced by CEA, will provide policymakers with the opportunity to interact with the technology companies and products at the center of some of the most critical, current technology policy debates. A full list of CES on the Hill exhibitors and their product descriptions can be found here.

As-a-service models offer huge opportunities, but also complicate security. It may seem that the easiest way to migrate to a new architectural model is to let others, experts in their field, do the work. This has given rise to many as-a-service models throughout the industry and across the entire technology stack, from software to infrastructure. While this has unlocked huge opportunities to accelerate the deployment of new capabilities or increase economic efficiencies within an organization, i...
The web app is agile. The REST API is agile. The testing and planning are agile. But alas, data infrastructures certainly are not. Once an application matures, changing the shape or indexing scheme of data often forces at best a top down planning exercise and at worst includes schema changes that force downtime. The time has come for a new approach that fundamentally advances the agility of distributed data infrastructures. Come learn about a new solution to the problems faced by software organ...
