GASFRAC Energy Services Inc., with headquarters in Calgary and operations in Alberta and Texas, announced today it has been named a finalist in the internationally renowned 2014 Edison Awards to be presented April 30th in San Francisco. The Edison Award program, now in its 27th year, honours groundbreaking ideas at the forefront to new products, services, marketing, design and innovation. GASFRAC is nominated in the Energy & Sustainability category for its Vantage® Frac waterless fracturing process which saves millions of gallons of water used in hydrocarbon production while also improving production efficiency - thereby ensuring more efficient use of two valuable resources.
"It is an honour and a pleasure to be recognized for our innovation," said GASFRAC CEO James Hill. "The GASFRAC team is motivated by the desire to do things no one has done before. While we are becoming known for providing a full range of efficient and innovative conventional fracturing services and products, our Vantage LPG Gel process has introduced a game-changing advance to the industry that helps dramatically reduce the use of precious water resources. This is important everywhere, but especially in those petroleum producing regions of North America where water is extremely scarce."
GASFRAC's Vantage Frac process is a closed stimulation process and injection method utilizing gelled LPG rather than conventional frac fluids. LPG Gel properties such as low surface tension, low viscosity, low density combine to create more effective fracturing lengths that enable higher initial and long-term production of the well. The gel process also allows for 100 per cent recovery of fracturing fluids within days of stimulation - leading to economic and environmental benefits such as a reduction in clean-up, waste disposal and post-job truck traffic.
About the Edison Awards
The Edison Awards (www.edisonawards.com) were named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), whose extraordinary new product development methods and innovative achievements garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name worldwide. The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards is judged by a panel of more than 3,000 individuals, including members of seven different associations representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines. Past honorees have included companies such as Starbucks®, Black & Decker®, AT&T Inc., Boeing, Caterpillar, General Motors, DocuSign®, Intuit and many more.

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.
