Konfigure is “A Game Changer” for Modern Businesses

Konfigure, the high productivity Platform as a Service (PaaS) from KeyedIn™ Solutions, has been hailed as a "game changer" by Scotlynn Commodities USA division.

Scotlynn Commodities, which specializes in the transportation of temperature-sensitive and perishable commodities, is proud to be the first Konfigure customer. Scotlynn was introduced to Konfigure by Vella Technologies, a Konfigure partner. Vella Technologies works to deliver the highest quality IT infrastructure and workflow applications to businesses around the world and views Konfigure as a “game changer” for their clients.

Scotlynn was in need of a single, adaptable application that could handle all its internal processes, from sales to human resources. However, according to Ryan Carter, vice president of the USA division at Scotlynn, other RAD (rapid application development) and PaaS platforms that the company encountered felt like "a straightjacket," making it difficult for it to turn its many ideas into functional tools. They needed something completely new and different.

Being fully Cloud-based, Konfigure allows organizations to quickly create Cloud solutions - bringing down the time and cost involved when producing business applications. Companies can also steer clear of the complexity of traditional software development and deployment thanks to the KeyedIn Solutions PaaS plus product.

The Konfigure tagline, “Don't Code. Konfigure!” demonstrates how companies can create and implement fully functional web applications, such as HR, CRM, workflow, invoicing and online forms, without the need for coding. Instead users configure the application using a 'drag and drop' environment, which can be easily deployed in the Cloud.

Carter says Konfigure is perfect for Scotlynn's requirements and has led to a fundamental change in the way the company's employees think.

"We can now focus on the task at hand, and we are always confident that the technology behind us can support the ideas we have as our business grows - we no longer have to worry about system errors or hardware issues popping up,” said Carter. “What's more, Konfigure is very cost effective. With a platform, based completely in the Cloud we can now avoid the costs and time associated with having to hire new staff members. Konfigure is a perfect development tool for the average modern business person. Those who do not have a lot of technical expertise will feel they can use the application to better run their business."

Rich Dumelle, general manager of the Konfigure division, said, "Konfigure has the potential to revolutionize the way companies operate. We’re delighted that Scotlynn Commodities chose the platform and we are pleased to hear it has yielded such positive results in such a short space of time. We hope that the platform will continue to serve Scotlynn well for many years to come and help the company grow from strength to strength."

Overgrown applications have given way to modular applications, driven by the need to break larger problems into smaller problems. Similarly large monolithic development processes have been forced to be broken into smaller agile development cycles. Looking at trends in software development, microservices architectures meet the same demands. Additional benefits of microservices architectures are compartmentalization and a limited impact of service failure versus a complete software malfunction. ...
"We help to transform an organization and their operations and make them more efficient, more agile, and more nimble to move into the cloud or to move between cloud providers and create an agnostic tool set," noted Jeremy Steinert, DevOps Services Practice Lead at WSM International, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @DevOpsSummit, held June 9-11, 2015, at the Javits Center in New York City.
The basic integration architecture, as defined by ESBs, hasn’t changed for more than a decade. Most cloud integration providers still rely on an ESB architecture and their proprietary connectors. As a result, enterprise integration projects suffer from constraints of availability and reliability of these connectors that are not re-usable across other integration vendors. However, the rapid adoption of APIs and almost ubiquitous availability of APIs amongst most SaaS and Cloud applications are ra...

The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of pro...

These and many other intriguing statistics highlight the importance of Internet powered devices and how market penetration is going to multiply many times over in the next few years.
Manufacturing has widely adopted standardized and automated processes to create designs, build them, and maintain them through their life cycle. However, many modern manufacturing systems go beyond mechanized workflows to introduce empowered workers, flexible collaboration, and rapid iteration. Such behaviors also characterize open source software development and are at the heart of DevOps culture, processes, and tooling.
