PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - April 30, 2014) - JukePop Inc., the pioneering e-book discovery site using crowd sourced reading analytics to identify up-and-coming literary talent, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Black Hill Press, the publishing collective founded on collaboration and dedicated to the novella. Black Hill Press and JukePop are collaborating with California Public Libraries to advocate writing and support reading with their Summer Writing Project.
This joint venture presents authors with the opportunity to craft their novellas a chapter at a time with immediate quantitative and qualitative feedback from their readers while also broadcasting their works to a California Public Libraries' audience eager for the next great storyteller. The Summer Writing Project begins on June 1, 2014 and continues through August 31, 2014.
The Summer Writing Project consists of a Black Hill Press-centered writing contest as defined below.
1. Write a novella and submit chapters via jukepop.com -- All entries follow JukePop's criteria for submissions at www.jukepop.com/home/submissions -- Accepted novella word range: 10,000 to 30,000 (Black Hill Press is less interested in word count and more interested in compelling characters and evocative moments.) 2. Selected novellas will be distributed to partner libraries based on JukePop reader analytics (retention + reading time) and presented in conjunction with partner libraries' Summer Reading programs
Black Hill Press will select three (3) novellas to be published as a special Summer Writing Project collection with cover artwork by Jeannie Phan. JukePop will recommend contestants' serial e-book works to Northern California libraries to lend to their membership. Black Hill Press will do the same to Southern California libraries.
About Black Hill Press
Black Hill Press is a publishing collective founded on collaboration. Our growing family of writers and artists is dedicated to the novella-a distinctive, often overlooked literary form that offers the focus of a short story and the scope of a novel. We believe a great story is never defined by its length.
About JukePop Inc.
JukePop is an incubation platform that combines community driven feedback and data analytics to help authors turn their concepts into great books. We believe there's at least one great book in every author, the difference is in how the story is told.
All clouds are not equal. To succeed in a DevOps context, organizations should plan to develop/deploy apps across a choice of on-premise and public clouds simultaneously depending on the business needs. This is where the concept of the Lean Cloud comes in - resting on the idea that you often need to relocate your app modules over their life cycles for both innovation and operational efficiency in the cloud. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at19th Cloud Expo, Valentin (Val) Bercovici, CTO of Soli...

Both SaaS vendors and SaaS buyers are going “all-in” to hyperscale IaaS platforms such as AWS, which is disrupting the SaaS value proposition. Why should the enterprise SaaS consumer pay for the SaaS service if their data is resident in adjacent AWS S3 buckets? If both SaaS sellers and buyers are using the same cloud tools, automation and pay-per-transaction model offered by IaaS platforms, then why not host the “shrink-wrapped” software in the customers’ cloud? Further, serverless computing, cl...
