Simply Hired today released its May 2014 Employment Outlook report. The report shows that job openings in April increased 2.3% month-over-month and were up 26.6% compared to the same time last year. This 2.3% growth in job openings is slightly lower than last month’s 5.1% gain but still indicates steady growth across the nation.
“The Simply Hired Employment Outlook continues to show there are many more job openings today than there were a year ago,” said James Beriker, CEO of Simply Hired. “This is excellent news for job seekers who are ready for the next great opportunity, and we are here to make sure they find and land the job they really want.”
Nearly two-thirds of all industries experience job growth. Job openings increased in 11 out of 18 industries in April 2014, with military (31.9%) and construction (16.2%) showing the largest gains. Hospitality (-5.5%) and media (-5.2%) saw decreases during this period.
Transportation and law enforcement roles increase. More than half of all occupation categories (12 out of 23) experienced growth in job openings in April 2014. Transportation workers (16.1%) and law enforcement (15.9%) roles experienced the largest amount of growth month-over-month. Doctors, nurses, therapist and technician (-3.1%) roles faced the largest decline in April 2014.

Companies can harness IoT and predictive analytics to sustain business continuity; predict and manage site performance during emergencies; minimize expensive reactive maintenance; and forecast equipment and maintenance budgets and expenditures. Providing cost-effective, uninterrupted service is challenging, particularly for organizations with geographically dispersed operations.
