MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/01/14 -- Edvance Software, Inc. announced today that the New Jersey Scholarship and Transformative Education in Prisons Consortium (NJ-STEP) has selected the Edvance Software System to support its operations.
NJ-STEP is part of the (US) national initiative 'Pathways from Prison to Postsecondary Education' funded by Ford and Sunshine Lady Foundations and is housed at Rutgers University in Newark's Office of the Chancellor.
"After a thorough search, we selected Edvance as our student management system because it provides us with a robust, user friendly and highly customizable solution for users across the Consortium," said Margaret Quern Atkins, Director of NJ-STEP. "In particular, we were in need of a system that could keep track of our students across different institutions and provide us with ongoing unified data that could be evaluated by our funders."
Other colleges and universities in New Jersey that are involved include Drew University, Essex County College, Mercer County Community College, Princeton University, Raritan Valley Community College, The College of New Jersey and Salem Community College.
Working in partnership with the Department of Corrections and the Parole Board of New Jersey, NJ-STEP organizes classes toward an AA and/or BA college degree for incarcerated students and helps them transition into college life following their release from prison.
"We are proud to partner with NJ-STEP," said Michael Bush, Edvance President. "Edvance is happy to provide staff members with a set of tailored software solutions to support what we believe to be very important work. By streamlining data collection and facilitating analysis and reporting, the NJ-STEP team is now better equipped to make informed decisions in support of their students."
The strength of the Edvance Software System lies in its underlying flexible framework which supports unique learning environments.
