Frequency announced today the general availability of Frequency Source™, a complete set of services enabling device manufacturers and platform operators to add a free-to-watch internet video capability to their own products.
“We’ve built the world’s most comprehensive service for watching freely available internet video,” said Blair Harrison, founder and CEO of Frequency. “We already have millions of people using Frequency's apps to watch their internet video on all their devices, from smartphones to smart TVs. Now, with Source, every device manufacturer and platform operator can bring this same capability to their own products.”
Source already powers Frequency’s own consumer applications on iOS and Android devices, on the web, on televisions and connected devices from Samsung, Sony, TCL, and Hisense, and on Amazon’s Fire TV. Frequency delivers over 4,000 premium free-to-watch video channels updated in real time. It also provides intelligent services, including search and recommendations, based on viewing behavior.
Over five million new videos are added to Frequency each day from the leading online video sources. Frequency combines human curation with automatically generated channels, based around each user’s interests, to provide a personalized video experience perfectly tailored for each user. It also allows consumers to connect their social networks and watch real time channels of the videos being shared with them by their friends.
