Hatch®, the leading early childhood education technology provider, today published an easy-to-use resource guide for the 2014 Early Head Start - Child Care Partnerships grant process. The guide directly ties research, standards and best practices to developmentally appropriate classroom products, software, and technology for young children. The guide is available for download at HatchEarlyLearning.com/HeadStartGrant.
The guide details products for Early Head Start (EHS) classrooms directly linked to the needs and goals of EHS, recommendations from reputable child development research, and developmentally appropriate best practices for working with infants and toddlers. “I wrote grants for more than a decade and always wanted a resource with all of the information in one place,” said Susan Gunnewig, Hatch's Vice President of Product Development, who oversaw creation of the document. “I created this guide as a time-saver and put all of the pieces together for busy administrators and teachers who work with young children.”
The grant guide is based on Head Start program performance standards for infants and toddlers, recommendations from the Zero to Three National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families; standards from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and research in the field of education specific to infants and toddlers. The resource guide outlines critical goals required by EHS and descriptions of the products that support educators in meeting these goals.
“This document bridges research with the daily activities in a preschool classroom, and shows how classroom materials and Hatch software prepare our youngest children for preschool by introducing school readiness skills early on,” said Dana Love, Ph.D., Hatch's Sales and Marketing VP. The resource guide describes TeachSmart® 3.0, interactive whiteboard software for preschool classrooms, as an ideal solution for Early Head Start. Announced yesterday at the National Head Start Association Conference in Long Beach, CA, TeachSmart can be quickly customized to an individual child or group of children based on their learning styles, functioning levels and interests.
