ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/02/14 -- Cinnabon® bakeries are eagerly baking world-famous treats in preparation of Nurses Week, ANA's annual event to support the nursing profession. From May 6-12, Cinnabon will award a free Classic Cinnamon Roll or Minibon® Roll to all nursing professionals.* These small tokens symbolize the brand's sweet sentiment to those that provide selfless service to others.
Nurses hold a special place in the heart of the brand as a result of one special patient, J. Patrick Barnes, who sadly lost his life at the age of 33. When Patrick was very ill and had difficulty eating, there was only one thing he wanted -- Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls -- and he wanted to share them with all the nurses that cared for him. He asked his father to bring his favorite sweet treats during his stay in the hospital. In the 14 years since then, Cinnabon has been the lead sponsor of The DAISY Foundation, established by Patrick's family to honor his caregivers. "The DAISY Foundation was created to recognize the amazing work and indescribable impact nurses have on patients and their families," said Tena Barnes Carraher, Patrick's wife. "When Pat was sick, the nurses truly went above and beyond and made an unbearable time more bearable, and we knew that treating these deserving nurses to Pat's favorite sweet would be a perfect way to thank them for their work."
