WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/03/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
The Government of Canada is providing total funding of $447,990 to Canadian Parents for French - Manitoba (CPF-MB) for its 2014-2017 programming.
Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, made the announcement today while taking part in the provincial awards ceremony for CPF-MB's annual public speaking event, the Concours d'art oratoire.
CPF-MB is an organization dedicated to promoting and creating French-second-language (FSL) learning opportunities outside the classroom that allow young people to learn and use the French language.
-- Some of the activities that will be offered by CPF-MB are the provincial Concours d'art oratoire, French summer camps, French cultural tours, French immersion drama forums, and basic French theatre workshops. -- In addition to providing more than 80,000 Manitoba students with extracurricular activities in French, CPF-MB offers resources to support parents in their choice of FSL learning opportunities for their children. -- The Government of Canada is providing this financial support through the Promotion of Linguistic Duality component of the Enhancement of Official Languages Program.
"Our Government is proud to support Canadian Parents for French - Manitoba in its efforts to provide youth with opportunities to learn and practice French. A great example of these activities is the Concours d'art oratoire. Year after year, thousands of students from across the province participate in this organization's public speaking event. I was honoured to be a part of it this year and I want to congratulate all those who participated!"
-Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
"Canadian Parents for French - Manitoba gratefully acknowledges the funding awarded by Canadian Heritage. This invaluable support will facilitate the continuation of the development and implementation of many creative and engaging FSL opportunities. And it will ensure exciting and motivational FSL learning experiences, which will benefit all students, including those in rural, northern, and remote areas of the province."
