LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/05/14 -- To launch the oldest pawn shop in the San Fernando Valley's anniversary year, Traders Loan & Jewelry (www.tradersloanandjewelry.com) is holding a 60th Anniversary Kickoff Event on Saturday, May 10, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the store, 18505 Sherman Way, Reseda, Calif. 91335.
In addition to the store's monthly drawings throughout the year, the Anniversary Kickoff Event will feature several drawings for items like gold diamond studs and genuine pearl earrings, along with a live DJ, food and drinks. Traders Loan & Jewelry offers a variety of unique items for a fraction of the regular price offered at retail stores, including high-grade watches, precious gems and men's and women's jewelry. People can register for the monthly drawings for items such as the emerald and diamond necklace, valued at $1,100, which was raffled off last month. Throughout the month of May, Traders Loan & Jewelry will give clients a 60 percent reduction in interest charges on all newly pawned items, when the loans are re-written after the initial four-month period.
While some people come to Traders Loan & Jewelry to shop, the store also grants loans against collateral, offers onsite appraisals, sells new and pre-owned merchandise, designs and creates custom jewelry, and repairs watches and jewelry. The store's owners, Diane and Douglas Taylor, refer to Traders Loan & Jewelry as "the people's bank" because it is a non-recourse lender that doesn't report to credit bureaus due to loan defaults; loans are based on the item, not the person.
"We help people of every socio-economic level, whether they need money for closing costs on their homes or to cover payroll for their businesses, or if they need cash for other reasons," says Taylor. "We're proud to have served our community for 60 years and will continue to do so."
With Mayor Eric Garcetti pushing new business initiatives such as shopping locally, dignitaries including City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, State Assemblymember Matt Dababneh and Honorary Mayor of Woodland Hills Dennis Zine will be at the event to support the store.
Event parking is available behind the store, behind the flower shop across the street, or on the street.
