SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- Meru Networks® (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in Wi-Fi networking, today announced that N.V. Elmar, the sole provider of electricity on the island of Aruba, has deployed a Meru Virtualized Wireless LAN solution to enable employees and consultants to work anywhere, anytime with their personal and company-owned mobile devices.
"With Meru, we have the secure mobility we need, and it's very easy to manage. We provide electricity to everyone on Aruba 24 hours a day, so we need to make sure our workforce is productive," said Alfred Croes, IT manager at N.V. Elmar. "The Meru wireless network allows our employees and consultants to work more effectively and we can expand our work environment to places where there are no wired network connections."
N.V. Elmar employees appreciate the simplicity of the Meru Wi-Fi and the connectivity has been flawless -- a great improvement over the consumer-grade Wi-Fi access points the island utility had been using. The Meru network supports about 500 devices, including laptops, tablets, printers and cameras. In addition to using company-issued laptops and tablets, staff members use their personal tablets and smartphones at the office. Elmar plans to expand BYOD access to include business applications and to roll out Wi-Fi networking to its seven substations to support video surveillance for increased security.
"Meru empowers small and midsized businesses with enterprise-grade intelligent Wi-Fi that just works," said Manish Rai, vice president of corporate marketing at Meru. "With Meru, business owners don't have to worry about time-consuming channel planning and ongoing management hassles. They can easily deploy Wi-Fi wherever they need it and easily scale it as their needs continue to grow."
