OutSystems, the open application platform provider, has announced that an IT project developed by Liberty Seguros, a Liberty Mutual subsidiary, has received an OutSystems Innovation Award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that are using OutSystems Platform to make IT dramatically more proactive, productive and essential in creating business value and driving innovation.
Liberty has been recognized for Liberty Connect, a custom-built insurance portal that supports over 4000 internal and external users, streamlines collaboration, and integrates with several systems of record. At Liberty, IT and business users have demonstrated an outstanding partnership, helping IT address new business needs and adapt new requirements in very aggressive timeframes.
“Liberty Seguros is honored to receive an OutSystems Innovation Award,” said Eduardo Romano, CIO for Liberty Seguros. “We rely on OutSystems Platform for all custom application development and delivery, especially for systems of engagement and mobile applications. With tight collaboration between our departments and OutSystems Platform, we are able to deliver customer-friendly solutions that keep pace with our business needs.”
Liberty had an ambitious vision to connect every single department and external partner through an end-to-end solution that placed the customer at the core of operations and analytics. The single information system would allow every area of the company, including external partners, to interact in real time, and that has made it possible for Liberty to run its business effectively while providing outstanding customer-centric services. Achieving this goal was an enormous task given that:
- Liberty had inherited systems and applications from a previous merger and acquisition.
- IT had to comply with the procedures and standards of Liberty Mutual headquarters.
- The business strategy required extending core processes to agents.
- IT wanted to support tactical business needs through the creation of departmental micro applications.
“Liberty is a great example of how business and IT can unite to deliver truly innovative solutions utilizing OutSystems Platform,” said David Holmes, vice president of marketing for OutSystems. “Liberty Connect was initially developed and deployed in three months by a team of three developers, and it has successfully supported their business for many years. With OutSystems Platform, Liberty IT provides an outstanding level of responsiveness, reacting to business requests within a week.”

In the next five to ten years, millions, if not billions of things will become smarter. This smartness goes beyond connected things in our homes like the fridge, thermostat and fancy lighting, and into heavily regulated industries including aerospace, pharmaceutical/medical devices and energy. “Smartness” will embed itself within individual products that are part of our daily lives. We will engage with smart products - learning from them, informing them, and communicating with them. Smart produc...
