LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- TENTEN Wilshire, a downtown Los Angeles apartments complex that has been steadily redefining the essence of "luxury housing" in the trendy, burgeoning real estate market of this city, is gearing up to host a reception in support of John Wong for L.A. County's next assessor. To be held on TENTEN's award-winning rooftop, the May 8 event is scheduled to take place from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and will be oriented as a showcase for Wong's experience, integrity and electability in his quest to become L.A. County assessor. Backing the reception are the three major players in the "Friends of John Wong for Assessor" platform, senator Steve Knight, Rahim Amidi and Saeed Amidi.
While the assessor's job is often considered to be undoubtedly the "least sexy" of all the elected positions in Los Angeles County government, in some respects it's the most important -- and is the one county job that affects taxpayers the most. Wong, chairman of the Los Angeles County Assessment Appeals Board, has had a vision for the assessor position that includes the office being "more efficiently run" while "not catering to special interests." The May 8 event is being poised to bring to the forefront all of Wong's relevant experience with regard to Office of the Assessor.
Some of this experience will include going into detail about accolades such as Wong serving as a trusted leader in his community, his service on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Community Clinic in Los Angeles as well as the Montebello Chamber of Commerce, his present position serving as the national vice president of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance as well as being its founding president and the way in which he has demonstrated "remarkable traction" with voters under "the most challenging of circumstances."

Public Cloud IaaS started its life in the developer and startup communities and has grown rapidly to a $20B+ industry, but it still pales in comparison to how much is spent worldwide on IT: $3.6 trillion. In fact, there are 8.6 million data centers worldwide, the reality is many small and medium sized business have server closets and colocation footprints filled with servers and storage gear. While on-premise environment virtualization may have peaked at 75%, the Public Cloud has lagged in adop...

DevOps tends to focus on the relationship between Dev and Ops, putting an emphasis on the ops and application infrastructure. But that’s changing with microservices architectures. In her session at DevOps Summit, Lori MacVittie, Evangelist for F5 Networks, will focus on how microservices are changing the underlying architectures needed to scale, secure and deliver applications based on highly distributed (micro) services and why that means an expansion into “the network” for DevOps.

In the midst of the widespread popularity and adoption of cloud computing, it seems like everything is being offered “as a Service” these days: Infrastructure? Check. Platform? You bet. Software? Absolutely. Toaster? It’s only a matter of time. With service providers positioning vastly differing offerings under a generic “cloud” umbrella, it’s all too easy to get confused about what’s actually being offered. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Kevin Hazard, Director of Digital Content for SoftL...
