PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/07/14 -- The City of Penticton announced today a new partnership with Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX: SJR.B)(NYSE: SJR) to offer their leading Shaw Go WiFi service at key City locations in the coming months. This agreement will provide both residents and Shaw customers even greater access to Shaw Go WiFi, Shaw's superior carrier-grade wireless broadband network.
Council agreed to a five-year non-exclusive deal with Shaw, which will see the Shaw Go WiFi service made publicly available in key City locations, including several city parks and other public amenities in Penticton.
"This WiFi agreement will increase Penticton's link to the world, fostering more local innovation and economic opportunity," said Mayor Garry Litke. "People on the go want to enjoy convenient connection to the Internet with their wireless-enabled devices throughout the City. They asked and we have delivered."
The public WiFi network was identified in the Downtown Plan among the top priorities of Penticton residents and businesses for creating economic activity. Consultation sessions in 2012 about what people wanted during the Downtown Penticton revitalization process reported wireless Internet as a high priority.
"We are excited to bring Shaw Go WiFi service to Penticton in some of the City's most popular facilities," said Ron McKenzie, Vice President, Operations, Shaw Communications Inc. "Extending Canada's largest WiFi network to Penticton will offer Shaw customers even greater connectivity and access to their favourite content through a fast and seamless broadband experience."
-- Locations in Penticton planned for WiFi access locations include: -- Main Street - from Westminster Avenue to Eckhardt Avenue -- Gyro Park and City Hall -- Front Street - from Main to Penticton Creek -- Nanaimo Square -- Okanagan Lake Park -- Skaha Lake Park and Rotary Centennial Pavilion -- Penticton Museum and Archives, Penticton Public Library -- Penticton Community Centre -- Penticton Art Gallery -- Leir House Cultural Centre
Shaw Go WiFi can be accessed in over 35,000 hotspots across Canada, from Victoria to Sault. Ste Marie, at no additional cost to Shaw Internet subscribers. A full list of locations is available at www.shaw.ca/wifi or by downloading the Shaw Go WiFi Finder App.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix Enterprise Cloud has many benefits that provide the needed base for a true DevOps paradigm.
