Dell and Red Hat Co-Engineered Cloud Solutions
Dell and Red Hat recently announced jointly engineered enterprise-grade, private cloud solutions based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform to help customers adopt and deploy highly-scalable cloud computing models. The co-engineered solution is built on Dell infrastructure and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, and gives customers the benefit of an open cloud platform with the predictable resource and maintenance requirements they know to expect from traditional software vendors. As part of the expanded relationship, Dell was the first company to OEM Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.
In addition, Dell announced support for Docker containers in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This support and planned future co-engineering with Red Hat aims to provide an open enterprise private cloud model that reduces operating expenses, offers IT self-service, and removes the barriers established by proprietary companies trying to use OpenStack without providing the complete solution. Further, Dell and Red Hat will work together within the OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) community to build OpenShift solutions that provide support for enterprise application developers looking for efficient ways to make their current and future data and applications more portable and accessible.
