OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/11/14 -- Some of Quebec's most talented writers, directors, and comedians were centre stage tonight as Radio-Canada broadcast the 16th annual Gala Les Olivier to recognize outstanding achievements and celebrate excellence in comedy in Quebec.
Our Government recognizes that the performing arts are at the heart of the Canadian cultural landscape, and we are proud to support this ever-evolving sector. The passionate men and women who dedicate themselves to their craft are a source of inspiration and pride.
Since 1998, the awards have been organized by the Association des professionnels de l'industrie de l'humour, a non-profit organization that contributes to our cultural scene by fostering and promoting the Quebec humour industry.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate all the award recipients and finalists at this year's Gala Les Olivier. I commend them on their contribution to Canadian culture and to our well-being, through the benefits of laughter.
