MELVILLE, NY--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) announced today that regional director, Michael Simon, M.D., will be a featured speaker at the 2014 Becker's Hospital Review 5th Annual Meeting to be held May 15-17, 2014 at the Swissôtel in Chicago, Illinois. NAPA will also support the event as an exhibitor at booth #15.
Dr. Simon will be a panelist alongside Nick Zenarosa, MD, FACEP, System Medical Director of Emergency Services of Baylor Health Care System, Nick A. Fabrizio, PhD, FACMPE, FACHE, Principal of MGMA Health Care Consulting Group and Amber McGraw Walsh, JD, Partner of McGuireWoods LLP during the session "Physician Integration - Best Practice for Great Groups." The goal of the panel is to allow Dr. Simon and the other panelists to share their thoughts on:
- What physician alignment strategies are most popular in their markets, and which they employ
- How to actually align physicians around goals (after all, it's about much more than structure)
- Common mistakes around physician alignment, from their perspective
- Why alignment is critical as we transform from a FFS to pay-for-performance industry
"In this changing healthcare environment, physician integration is essential in achieving success within our healthcare facilities," said Dr. Simon. "In order to be able to provide the highest level of quality care to our patients, physicians must serve as an invaluable partner by integrating and submersing themselves in all aspects of the institution -- driving operational improvements in addition to enhancing efficiencies, outcomes, satisfaction, and communication within their realm of care and beyond."
Dr. Simon is a board-certified, attending anesthesiologist at North American Partners in Anesthesia. He has previously served as the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA, and Macneal Hospital, Berwyn, IL. He currently serves as Immediate Past-President of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA).
The 2014 Becker's Hospital Review 5th Annual Meeting brings together hospital business and strategy leaders to discuss how to improve your hospital and its bottom line in these challenging but opportunity-filled times. The best minds in the hospital field will discuss opportunities for hospitals plus provide practical and immediately useful guidance on ACOs, physician-hospital integration, improving profitability and key specialties.

Skeuomorphism usually means retaining existing design cues in something new that doesn’t actually need them. However, the concept of skeuomorphism can be thought of as relating more broadly to applying existing patterns to new technologies that, in fact, cry out for new approaches. In his session at DevOps Summit, Gordon Haff, Senior Cloud Strategy Marketing and Evangelism Manager at Red Hat, discussed why containers should be paired with new architectural practices such as microservices rathe...

Any Ops team trying to support a company in today’s cloud-connected world knows that a new way of thinking is required – one just as dramatic than the shift from Ops to DevOps. The diversity of modern operations requires teams to focus their impact on breadth vs. depth. In his session at DevOps Summit, Adam Serediuk, Director of Operations at xMatters, Inc., will discuss the strategic requirements of evolving from Ops to DevOps, and why modern Operations has begun leveraging the “NoOps” approa...

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.

The Internet of Things is in the early stages of mainstream deployment but it promises to unlock value and rapidly transform how organizations manage, operationalize, and monetize their assets. IoT is a complex structure of hardware, sensors, applications, analytics and devices that need to be able to communicate geographically and across all functions. Once the data is collected from numerous endpoints, the challenge then becomes converting it into actionable insight.
