To celebrate National Small Business Week, ShopKeep POS, the company replacing cash registers with iPads and the cloud, today announced a small business incubator program that will award $15,000 in grants to help hard working small business owners make their ‘Big Ideas’ a reality.
“Small business owners are some of the hardest working people I know, but they are rarely rewarded,” said Jason Richelson, Founder and CEO, ShopKeep POS. “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local communities. They employ local residents, keep money in the area and create the character of the neighborhood. We want to support the small businesses that support us.”
The competition, titled ‘Small Biz, Big Ideas’, asks small business owners to submit 500 characters and an image of their small business via Facebook about the ‘Big Idea’ they would most like to implement in their business. A combination of public voting and a panel of ShopKeep judges will decide a Grand Prize winner of $10,000 and five Runner-Ups who will each receive $1,000.
The competition comes as ShopKeep launches a new initiative for small businesses – ‘Counter Culture’ – an online resource center and community dedicated to small business innovation.
“Counter Culture represents a movement of innovative small business owners using technology to take back Main Street,” continued Mr. Richelson. “The small business technology revolution is happening, and it’s happening now. The cloud has made enterprise-grade technology readily available to local business owners, who are using it to compete with the Goliaths of their industry. We’re going to help them win.”
- Enter online via the ShopKeep POS Facebook page
- Submissions open at 12:00PM EST on May 12, 2014, and close at 12:00PM EST on June 12, 2014.
- Entrants must be a small business owner with 20 employees or less, in good standing, over 18 years of age, and a resident of the U.S, excluding Rhode Island.
- Full competition rules available on the ShopKeep POS Facebook page.
