Is crime cyclic in nature? Can we predict when it will occur in cities? How does this impact your IT operation and how can you leverage analytics?
In his session at 5th Big Data Expo, Steve Surfaro, Axis Communications Industry Liaison and Chairman of the ASIS Physical Security Council, will explore the efforts of Chicago and Philadelphia, Phoenix and Dallas in new crime fighting efforts using data analytics, cloud computing, physical security and predictive policing efforts.
How does a city analyze crime statistics and then execute crime prevention? Can crime mapping reveal problem locations not considered previously? Temporal crime analysis can often reveal trends for different times and locations in a city. Today's crime fighting team now often includes persons experienced in crime analysis and psychology to explain and sometimes predict a higher possibility of data center breaches, business interruption and violent crime.
Experience a fresh, multimedia take on the various philosophies relevant to Big Data and relevant to all the things you need to protect your operation.
Consider the unique viewpoints of IT management, police, attorneys, and physical security professionals in the review of crime data and predictions.
With more than 25 years of security industry experience, Steve Surfaro is Axis Communications Industry Liaison and Chairman of the ASIS Physical Security Council. He is also Chairman of the SIA Digital Video Subcommittee, Chairman of the CSAA Video Services Subcommittee, Industry Liaison for the BICSI ESS Standard Committee and Standards Team Leader for the DHS Video Quality in Public Safety Group. Steve is published in a wide range of security publications and delivers an average of 100 industry accredited sessions each year. He is the author of the Digital Video Handbook, a DHS publication. Steve recently received the Roy N. Bordes Council Member Award of Excellence from ASIS International. He was also recently honored by BICSI by receiving the Harry J.
