MultiTaction Enriched Reality(TM) Engages Students in Academic Discovery at Trinity University

MultiTouch Teams Up With PUSH Offices to Provide an Interactive Table Linking Personality Types to Potential Fields of Study

LOS GATOS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/12/14 -- MultiTouch Ltd., world leader in interactive display systems, today announced an interactive installation at Trinity University's Admissions Office Welcome Center. The installation, which features a MultiTaction 55" table display, provides an easily accessible, interactive platform for prospective students to explore their academic interests and options during on-campus tours of the university.

The interactive table at Trinity University features MultiTouch's Enriched Reality™ technology which uses 2D barcodes to seamlessly recognize objects placed on the display. MultiTouch and creative design and branding firm PUSH Offices implemented the software for the installation, creating a series of 25 personality cards that interact with the MultiTaction display. The cards were uniquely designed and made to match specific personality types with potential fields of study at Trinity University.

As the user places a personality card on the table, the application links it to display-related topics, areas of study, on-campus information and multi-media specific to the card. The table supports multiple cards to show even more information such as interests, activities and academic opportunities at Trinity University.

Students choose cards based on the quotes printed on them. Each card has a quote from famous trailblazers in their field, such as this one from Steve Jobs: "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." When this card is placed on the screen, it displays academic fields like art and art history, engineering and science, as well as Trinity University faculty members in those fields of study. Interests like the Rotaract Club and art collective are also shown to prospective students.

"The Trinity University installation provided another exciting opportunity to collaborate with MultiTouch," said Eric Boisvert, managing partner from PUSH Offices. "The MultiTaction Enriched Reality enabled us to create software to seamlessly integrate with the display to inspire visitors and create awareness about all Trinity University has to offer to students."

"The application at Trinity University is an innovative way to utilize MultiTaction Enriched Reality technology with interactive displays," said Timo Korpela, general manager of MultiTouch. "The advanced technology is completely hidden from the end users who intuitively use the personality cards to interact with the display application. This installation turns one of the most important decisions in a student's life into an engaging and immersive experience."

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to simplify and streamline our lives by automating routine tasks that distract us from our goals. This promise is based on the ubiquitous deployment of smart, connected devices that link everything from industrial control systems to automobiles to refrigerators.
