Spotzot Launches Updated Mobile Ad Tech Platform; Builds a New Digital Channel for In-Store Sales

Mobile, Location-Based Ad Leader Supports Groupon's Freebies In-Store Coupons

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/13/14 -- Spotzot, the leading location-based mobile advertising platform for retailers and brands, today launched an expanded solution which enables brick-and-mortar retailers to use mobile and location technology to connect with on-the-go shoppers.

Spotzot has developed and refined a sophisticated technology solution that enables retailers to drive in-store traffic and sales by connecting shoppers with the best offers, all through the mobile phone. Spotzot is used by brands to better promote specific products across the broad network of Spotzot retail partners. The company, which has raised eight million from Foundation Capital, Cervin Ventures and Inventus Capital Partners, serves shoppers some 200,000 mobile offers per day. These offers are gathered from 250 of the world's most popular retail outlets like Aeropostale, Express, Rite Aid, Sears, Carters, Staples and Verizon Wireless.

Spotzot leverages location targeting technology to identify motivated shoppers based on a precise understanding of their coordinates and store location. Spotzot also partners with leading mobile shopping applications to provide a native advertising experience that combines location and shopping intent. The company delivers a simple and effective mobile experience for local shoppers while increasing in-store sales and amplifying advertising returns by up to 15 times over traditional promotion platforms.

"The retail industry faces extreme pressure to stay relevant in the face of increasing ecommerce sales, so it's no surprise that retailers and brands seek new tools and technology that can drive in-store traffic and ultimately sales," said Pehr Luedtke, chief executive officer of Spotzot. "Over 90 percent of retail shopping today is done in-store. By using the mobile device to provide shoppers with digital coupons, our goal is to modernize the way people find deals and shop in-store. Our solution is simple to use, and great for retail and brands that want to target high-intent shoppers and serve them with mobile coupons before they walk in the store."

In addition to launching their mobile solution, Spotzot is excited to announce that it has signed an agreement with Groupon, the global leader in local commerce, to provide content for Groupon's digital coupon channel Freebies. Groupon has more than 200 million subscribers worldwide, and is widely seen as a pioneer in online-to-offline commerce. Together with Spotzot, Groupon customers have access to free in-store coupons from their favorite national retail stores.

"Our partnership with Spotzot enables us to bring great in-store offers from national retail brands to local shoppers, giving our audience yet another reason to check Groupon first." said VP Sean Smyth, from Groupon.

"Our customers are digitally savvy women who seek great fashion and great value," said Larry Gray, Director of CRM at Ashley Stewart, the iconic fashion brand for curvy women. "The mobile device is the perfect medium to deliver personalized, targeted deals. Our partnership with Spotzot enables us to connect with current and new customers with compelling offers that drive in-store traffic."

In the world of DevOps there are ‘known good practices’ – aka ‘patterns’ – and ‘known bad practices’ – aka ‘anti-patterns.' Many of these patterns and anti-patterns have been developed from real world experience, especially by the early adopters of DevOps theory; but many are more feasible in theory than in practice, especially for more recent entrants to the DevOps scene. A critical component of any IoT project is the back-end systems that capture data from remote IoT devices and structure it in a way to answer useful questions. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle large data sets, but they are not well suited to many IoT-scale products and the need for real-time insights. At Fuze, we have developed a backend platform as part of our mobility-oriented cloud service that uses Big Data-based approache...

There is an ever-growing explosion of new devices that are connected to the Internet using “cloud” solutions. This rapid growth is creating a massive new demand for efficient access to data. And it’s not just about connecting to that data anymore. This new demand is bringing new issues and challenges and it is important for companies to scale for the coming growth. And with that scaling comes the need for greater security, gathering and data analysis, storage, connectivity and, of course, the...
We’ve worked with dozens of early adopters across numerous industries and will debunk common misperceptions, which starts with understanding that many of the connected products we’ll use over the next 5 years are already products, they’re just not yet connected. With an IoT product, time-in-market provides much more essential feedback than ever before. Innovation comes from what you do with the data that the connected product provides in order to enhance the customer experience and optimize busi...
