Hotel in Rome Partners With Local Church to Help the Needy

At the Rome Marriott Park Hotel, Charity Starts at Home

ROME, ITALY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/13/14 -- In a world where there are as many worthy causes to support as there are minutes in the day, committing to help just one can seem harder than helping none. In this way, it's easy for individuals -- not to mention businesses -- to remain focused on the tasks at hand instead of lending a hand. There are, however, exceptions, and the Rome Marriott Park Hotel is one of them. This Fiumicino Airport hotel has recently teamed up with a local church to offer aid where it matters most: in their community.

Drawing on a legacy of church involvement with the poor, the Parrocchia Santa Maria del Rosario ai Martiri Portuensi (Church of Santa Maria del Rosario Portuensi Martyrs) is fulfilling one of its many roles in helping its parish's disadvantaged members. And the church's priest, Don Paolo Desandré, has been grateful for the help from the Rome Marriott Park Hotel. The property, after all, has been the only one among hotels near the Rome Airport to reach out and offer monetary contributions alongside donations of items guests have left behind and not reclaimed.

But what began as a single contribution has evolved into a verifiable movement. Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the hotel's staff, the property has begun making weekly donations of money, lost-and-found items and even food that Don Desandré then distributes among the parish's 70 needy families.

For travelers, knowing their patronage helps the local community only enhances the appeal of these sumptuous Rome accommodations. In addition to amenities like flat-screen televisions, safes and high-speed Internet access, the property embraces the Italian reputation for unparalleled quality within the luxury market. As a result, it is one of the few hotels to include handcrafted furniture and marble bathrooms within its spacious guest rooms. And that means guests can travel well and give generously at the same time.
