BEW Global Achieves ISO 27001 Certification

Denver-Based Managed Security Services Provider Meets International Standard for Information Security

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/14/14 -- BEW Global, an internationally recognized leader in critical asset protection, announced today that it has achieved ISO 27001 certification after a rigorous review and audit of its information security management system (ISMS) by BSI, one of the most respected independent accredited certified bodies in the industry.

"ISO 27001 certification was an essential step to demonstrate that we are using best practices in securing our most critical assets which includes our clients' data and unique intellectual property that is key to our business," said BEW Global president and co-founder Rob Eggebrecht. "Additionally, ISO 27001 certification is a significant differentiator between BEW Global and other managed security solution providers as the ISMS demands rigorous controls with continuous measurements of ongoing improvement."

The ISO 27001 standard sets out requirements and best practices for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving ISMS programs based on an organization's business risks. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the world's leading standards development organization, made up of national standards bodies from around the world.

"ISO 27001 is a demanding standard. Certification proves there is a stringent set of processes and procedures in place and sensitive data is securely managed. I congratulate BEW Global on their achievement," stated Todd VanderVen, president of BSI Americas.

An information security management system (ISMS) is a comprehensive framework built upon the foundation of quality management principles, ultimately enabling a company to reduce risks while increasing the potential for greater operational efficiencies. A strong ISMS is able to identify an organization's security risks, design and implement a strong series of controls to address those risks, and put a strict management process in place to ensure controls continue to meet the organization's needs.

"This was a demanding process that encompassed all areas of the business and challenged our team to improve and innovate on every front," said Eggebrecht. "This certification provides our customers, investors, partners and team members a greater sense of confidence knowing the organization has met one of the highest benchmarks in the information security industry."

If there is anything we have learned by now, is that every business paves their own unique path for releasing software- every pipeline, implementation and practices are a bit different, and DevOps comes in all shapes and sizes. In the world of DevOps there are ‘known good practices’ – aka ‘patterns’ – and ‘known bad practices’ – aka ‘anti-patterns.' Many of these patterns and anti-patterns have been developed from real world experience, especially by the early adopters of DevOps theory; but many are more feasible in theory than in practice, especially for more recent entrants to the DevOps scene. In this power panel at @DevOpsSummit at 18th Cloud Expo, moderated by DevOps Conference Chair Andi Mann, panelists will dis...
Up until last year, enterprises that were looking into cloud services usually undertook a long-term pilot with one of the large cloud providers, running test and dev workloads in the cloud. With cloud’s transition to mainstream adoption in 2015, and with enterprises migrating more and more workloads into the cloud and in between public and private environments, the single-provider approach must be revisited.
