TickSmith’s Financial Big Data Solution Now Optimizing Content for Scivantage Investor™ Platform

TickSmith Corp. announced today that its Big Data platform now delivers comprehensive historical intraday and end-of-day trading data to Scivantage Investor™, the firm’s next-generation online brokerage solution. TickSmith's Big Data solution optimizes the TICKS by SIX data sourced from SIX Financial Information, giving Scivantage’s clients a powerful set of tools for charting and portfolio calculations on behalf of its investment clients.

“TickSmith’s Big Data platform transforms and prepares huge data sets, such as the massive amounts of historical trade and quote data from SIX, for seamless integration with the Scivantage platform,” said TickSmith CEO Francis Wenzel. “Because our platform is a turnkey solution that meets Scivantage’s unique requirements, all they had to do was to integrate the optimized data to their new platform.”

“With the launch of our enhanced web brokerage platform, we wanted to improve data visualization, intra-day charting and portfolio views. While that process sounds fairly straightforward, it requires large amounts of data that needs to be normalized and adjusted," said Chris Psaltos, VP of Product Management at Scivantage. "TickSmith has helped streamline that operation and allowed us to add more functionality to our platform."

TICKS by SIX comprises global equities, bonds, indices, forex, and derivatives sourced from more than 1,500 providers, including global exchanges and alternative liquidity pools. With quote and trade data dating back to mid-2007, TICKS by SIX is one of the broadest and deepest trade and data repositories available today.

TickSmith adds even more value to TICKS by SIX through pre-processing that delivers adjusted data, rollups, synthetic millisecond timestamps, calculated fields and more. TickSmith makes data available in normalized and client-specific formats via files, web tools and APIs.

Up until last year, enterprises that were looking into cloud services usually undertook a long-term pilot with one of the large cloud providers, running test and dev workloads in the cloud. A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.
