May is Home Improvement Month and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® is encouraging consumers to integrate home automation tech during their renovations this month. CEA shares four tips on how to turn any house into a smart home during Home Improvement Month:
Get inspired: Imagine controlling your home lights room-by-room or setting your air conditioning remotely from your smartphone or tablet, just like the HGTV Smart Home 2014. Earning CEA’s TechHome Gold rating, the Smart Home features technology to give the homeowner a seamless, efficient experience that enhances everyday living.
Determine your home’s current tech savviness: To get started, complete a brief survey and assess your home’s current technology capabilities based on CEA’s TechHome Rating System, a nationally-recognized set of guidelines for residential technology infrastructure. When you are finished, you will learn what your house is currently capable of executing and help identify technology needs to fulfill your digital wish list.
Watch and learn: Check out the CEA TechHome video playlist that features quick, helpful videos covering subjects such as “How do Smart Homes Work?,” “Save Energy and Money,” “Smart Home Security,” and many more.
Find a home technology integrator: Use the Home Technology Installer Locator to enter your zip code and consult with a professional to learn how to make your dream home come true.
“Smart homes are no longer just for the Jetsons,” said Danielle Cassagnol, senior coordinator of communications at CEA. “Don’t forget about the tech during Home Improvement Month renovations to add value to your home, increase efficiency and enjoy the benefits of smart home technology.”

According to Forrester Research, every business will become either a digital predator or digital prey by 2020. To avoid demise, organizations must rapidly create new sources of value in their end-to-end customer experiences. True digital predators also must break down information and process silos and extend digital transformation initiatives to empower employees with the digital resources needed to win, serve, and retain customers.

A strange thing is happening along the way to the Internet of Things, namely far too many devices to work with and manage. It has become clear that we'll need much higher efficiency user experiences that can allow us to more easily and scalably work with the thousands of devices that will soon be in each of our lives. Enter the conversational interface revolution, combining bots we can literally talk with, gesture to, and even direct with our thoughts, with embedded artificial intelligence, wh...
