AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/14 -- L2 Consulting Services, Inc. (L2) is pleased to announce that the company has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) validation from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the installation of the Iridium Satellite Communications System on 737-700/800/900/900ER aircraft. The original Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificate (ST10928SC) was certified by L2 for both the ICG NxtLink ICS-220A and Rockwell Collins IRT-2120 Iridium Satcom systems.
L2 Vice President of Operations, Dean Rudolph said, "An EASA STC validation is required for European operators integrating FAA certified systems." He added, "We are delighted to now offer our European customers a fully certified Iridium Communications solution on the B737NG series aircraft."
The NxtLink ICS-220A and IRT-2120 devices are a comprehensive communications system that provides the Flight Crew with a dedicated Data Link channel to support; Aircraft Communications and Reporting System (ACARS), FANs messaging, Controller - Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and an exclusive global voice channel. L2 developed all of the engineering and managed the entire STC regulatory process with the European Aviation Safety Agency. L2 also holds existing Iridium certifications on B747, B757, and B767 aircraft.
