Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”) was last night announced as the winner of the Best Wholesale Innovation category at the 2014 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, held at the Sheraton Park Lane hotel in London.
The annual awards recognise projects which have demonstrated innovative thinking and implementation as a collaboration between at least one operator and vendor. Zayo Group was recognised for its 2013 project with SSE Telecoms, undertaking a major UK network expansion which enabled SSE to extend its high capacity connectivity services into over 20 BT exchanges and 20 data centres across London. The project utilized Zayo’s extensive London dark fibre reach as well as Zayo’s ability to design and build large scale fibre networks.
Alastair Kane, European vice-president for Zayo Group, says: “This award is a testament to the value of the investment we have made in bandwidth infrastructure in Europe, which enables us to rapidly deploy fully custom extensions for our customers.”
Chris Jagusz, managing director of SSE Telecoms added: “It is good to see Zayo win this prestigious award. Their proactive, professional and timely implementation of our extended London fibre footprint has ensured we retain and grow our position as a leading provider of connectivity services to mainstream data centres and commercial premises in the City.”
