FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/14 -- Earth Rangers welcomed the release of the Conservative government's National Conservation Plan (NCP), highlighting the positive impact the plan will have in motivating children and families to take a greater interest in nature and conservation.
Earth Rangers joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq, and MP Keith Ashfield in Fredericton, NB at the official announcement of the National Conservation Plan. The plan focuses on conserving Canada's lands and waters, restoring Canada's ecosystems, and connecting Canadians to nature.
"We are thrilled with the commitments made in the National Conservation Plan for more resources to connect families to their environment," said Peter Kendall, Executive Director of Earth Rangers. "This directly relates to the work that Earth Rangers does every day across Canada, and we are excited to be a part of putting this plan into action."
As part of Economic Action Plan 2014, Earth Rangers received a multi-year financial commitment of $1 million dollars per year for three years to fund the expansion of their educational programming across Canada. The launch of the National Conservation Plan highlighted this funding commitment.
"The National Conservation Plan reinforces the commitment made by the Harper government to Earth Rangers, and to our shared goal of involving families and children in Canada's conservation initiatives," said Kendall. "We are looking forward to helping even more children and families across the country rediscover and preserve the natural environment. We are honoured to be working with Minister Aglukkaq and her colleagues to make this happen," said Kendall.
