Mattress Industry insight:
Mike Magnuson, CEO of GoodBed.com (http://www.goodbed.com/), a mattress review site, said the Internet is playing a significant role in the mattress shopping experience.
He said consumers have no routine for buying a mattress, since it is a "sporadic purchase." They are also confused by mattress warranties and model names. In general, they are wary about the mattress shopping process.
Consumers' fear leads them to look for information about mattresses. They are using smartphones to help avoid a bad mattress decision. And they are using social media to see what their friends like.
Magnuson said that approximately 5% of mattress shoppers buy online, but said that is only a small part of the Internet story. About 40% of consumers say they would consider buying a mattress online. "People are very open to the idea of buying online," he said.
And 85% of consumers research mattresses online, making the Internet a vital part of the shopping experience for many.
Mattress Industry Numbers:
According to the Bedding Barometer (http://www.sleepproducts.org/statistics/industry-sales-data/#beddingbarometer), the International Sleep Products Association's (http://www.sleepproducts.org/) monthly report on industry sales, August 2013 unit sales of mattresses and foundations increased 3.5% for the month as compared with August 2012. About Definitive Rest Mattress Company
Company CEO, Juan Carlos Murga:
I feel the time has come to change the way mattresses are sold in the market, a few very important factors that were considered in Definitive Rest embracing the idea of California Dreamin was the cool concept of building the mattress online, the web site in development is easy to follow, allowing the consumer to understand the components that make a mattress and the firmness they prefer, what we will be doing is bringing both worlds together in a way that it has not been done, the Internet and the store, both working together to help the customer choose better, we are very excited and looking forward to the first store to open in the coming months.
Definitive Rest Mattress Company is a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of mattresses and bedding products. The Company was originally founded in August of 2009.
For 2013 and current 2014 the company has been a process of redevelopment in general which has allowed us to identify areas of weakness that needed to be repaired, we acknowledge that this has affected our revenue and overall activity within the last few months, identifying the source was a difficult job; but the good news is that it was corrected and now we can move forward with a an up to date organization in all aspects from accounting, process and development, sales and marketing, logistics and overall customer satisfaction. We are excited to have put the issues in the past and now moving forward, we have great projects to look forward too, great joint ventures CAFINSA Guatemala and California Dreamin, including the reintroduction of our new redesigned Genesis Series and Sevilla Series our (Signature Line), but not to forget the line of bedding for children Jack & Jill series for the Sothern California market.
We look forward to opportunities and challenges the market will bring us, Thank you to all who have stuck by us and the belief that there is someone always there for you if you seek them.

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.

In today's enterprise, digital transformation represents organizational change even more so than technology change, as customer preferences and behavior drive end-to-end transformation across lines of business as well as IT. To capitalize on the ubiquitous disruption driving this transformation, companies must be able to innovate at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional approaches for driving innovation are now woefully inadequate for keeping up with the breadth of disruption and change facin...

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...

I recently attended and was a speaker at the 4th International Internet of @ThingsExpo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to attend this event last year and I wrote a blog from that show talking about how the “Enterprise Impact of IoT” was a key theme of last year’s show. I was curious to see if the same theme would still resonate 365 days later and what, if any, changes I would see in the content presented.
