Pratt & Whitney Canada Launches PW307D Turbofan Engine to Power New Dassault Falcon 8X Business Jet

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/19/14 -- Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a United Technologies Corp.company (NYSE: UTX), today announced at the 2014 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE2014) that it is introducing the PW307D turbofan engine to power the new Dassault Falcon 8X business jet.

Building on the capabilities of the PW307A turbofan engine, which powers the Dassault Falcon 7X business jet, the PW307D's improved fuel consumption and higher take-off thrust are among the enhancements that will support the Falcon 8X. Featuring three PW307D turbofans, the new jet will provide an alternative solution to business jet customers looking to cover longer distances and more city pairing options.

"We are proud to partner with Pratt & Whitney Canada, a company that shares our passion for delivering exceptional products and is as focused on customer satisfaction as we are," said Olivier Villa, Senior Vice President, Civil Aircraft, Dassault Aviation. "The Falcon 8X powered by the PW307D turbofan engine allows us to respond to the rapidly growing segment of operators who want an increased range and maximum comfort across even greater distances through the jet's more spacious cabin."

The PW307D is the latest turbofan in the PW300 family of business jet engines and further expands P&WC's presence in the growing long-range business aviation segment. The PW300 family is recognized in the 4,700- to 8,000-lb thrust class for its low fuel consumption, environmental friendliness, reliability and economical operation. Building on these attributes, the PW307D is a compact, light-weight engine with enhancements made specifically to support the extended range and additional maximum take-off weight of the Falcon 8X.

"The Dassault Falcon 8X is a truly exceptional aircraft, taking its place among the world's most technically advanced business jets and we are thrilled to have played a key supporting role in its development," said Michael Perodeau, Vice President, Marketing, P&WC. "As we look forward to engine certification of the PW307D in April 2015, today's milestone underscores our ongoing commitment to the business aviation segment and helping OEMs deliver great products to their customers."

Falcon 8X customers will be able to take advantage of P&WC's Eagle Service Plan™ (ESP®) Platinum, the company's premium "pay-per-hour" flexible service plan, designed to bring the peace of mind that comes with predictable future maintenance costs.

"In addition to delivering the most reliable, durable and operationally economical turbofan engines, we are also committed to providing exceptional global customer support to all of our operators," said John Di Bert, Vice President, Customer Service, P&WC. "OEMs and operators count on us to provide rapid, expert support along with the most flexible service and maintenance options available on the market. Our ESP® Platinum is a great example of how we deliver on this promise."

The PW300 family of turbofans has accumulated over 13 million flying hours with more than 3,600 PW300 engines flying worldwide today. In addition to the Dassault Falcon 8X, P&WC powers the Falcon 7X with the PW307A and the Falcon 2000EX, 2000DX, 2000LX, 2000S and 2000LXS business jets with its PW308C engine.
