SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 05/20/14 -- The Commonwealth of Virginia recently selected Parchment as the eTranscript provider for its 132 secondary school divisions. Through "Virginia eTranscript," students will find the process of applying to postsecondary institutions or place of employment simplified. Parchment's platforms make it easier to request, verify and share educational credentials electronically and with any recipient.
The Virginia Department of Education will fund unlimited electronic delivery of transcripts for current high school students, resulting in zero costs to these students. Parchment will also provide data exchange services for divisions using other eTranscript services. The Virginia secondary education landscape boasts 132 divisions, comprising 331 high schools, and more than 88,000 high school seniors.

"Students are now poised for greater success in their postsecondary and professional efforts through the electronic exchange of their learning credentials."
The Virginia Department of Education also selected Parchment to provide robust receiving tools for all Virginia higher education institutions through the Parchment Receive platform, further simplifying the process for students applying to institutions within the Commonwealth. These postsecondary institutions will have access to transcripts from Virginia high schools as machine readable data, to speed the admission and evaluation process.
Virginia is another example of a state-wide initiative to adopt eTranscript services, allowing learners and institutions to share digital credentials. Including Virginia, Parchment provides services to eleven statewide eTranscript initiatives: Alaska, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
