INSIGHT Wins SDCE100 Award

Chosen for Global CPG Network Redesign Project That Lowered Carbon Emissions & Costs

MANASSAS, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/21/14 -- INSIGHT, Inc., top international provider of planning solutions that power supply chain design for the world's foremost companies, announces winning the SDCE100 Award for 2014 from Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine. This is INSIGHT's 10th consecutive win of this prestigious award honoring the best projects that navigate the turbulent waters of today's complex supply chains. INSIGHT was chosen for their supply chain network distribution design project with a global juice producer that reduced carbon emissions, lowered operating costs, and improved efficiencies.

"INSIGHT is pleased to once again win this prestigious award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive for the significant supply chain transformations our clients undergo by using our supply chain network design and analytics solutions," said Dr. Jeff Karrenbauer, president and co-founder of INSIGHT, Inc. "In today's competitive environment, our clients' global supply chains are more complex, requiring them to constantly analyze their supply chain networks to increase operational efficiencies, lower costs, and improve customer service."

"Our readers count on Supply & Demand Chain Executive for intelligence and decision-making information on solutions and best practices for supply chain transformation," said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "With this year's Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100, we are featuring '100 Great Supply Chain Projects' that demonstrate the broad spectrum of opportunities for enabling excellence in the supply chain. The projects featured can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations."

The global CPG utilized INSIGHT's SAILS for supply chain network design to determine the best location for new manufacturing and distribution centers, which customers would be serviced by these new facilities, and which transportation modes would best service these customers while reducing mileage and lowering carbon emissions. The selected design reduced the miles for delivery by 4.5 million miles, resulting in a savings of 14,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. The company also saved 10 percent of shipping costs by combining and reducing the number of shipments and distance travelled.

The 2014 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 are supply chain solution and service providers that are helping their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence. They have produced measurable gains in ROI through cost-cutting, and increased efficiency, whether in warehouse, transportation, procurement sourcing or any other category in the end-to-end supply chain. Over 200 submissions were evaluated by the magazine's editorial staff primarily based on: ambitiousness/scope of the project (30 percent); creative application of technologies/solutions/services used (20 percent); extent of the business results/impact (40 percent); clarity of submission (10 percent). Final recipients will be featured with more detail in the cover story of the June 2014 issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive, as well as online.

Providing the needed data for application development and testing is a huge headache for most organizations. The problems are often the same across companies - speed, quality, cost, and control. Provisioning data can take days or weeks, every time a refresh is required. Using dummy data leads to quality problems.
