bswift Expands Headquarters to Accommodate Rapid Job Growth

CHICAGO,IL--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - bswift, a leader in cloud-based technology and services for employee benefits and health exchanges, today announced that it has expanded its Chicago headquarters at 10 South Riverside Plaza in order to accommodate the company's rapid growth. The new offices on the 12th floor add nearly 20,000 square feet to bswift's existing space one floor below.

In the fall of 2011, bswift moved into the building's 11th floor, which features an open-floor plan and stunning views of the Chicago River. Situated in the West Loop, bswift headquarters offer convenient access to the commuter trains at Union Station and other modes of public transportation, including the Chicago Water Taxi, and is surrounded by top-notch restaurants and hotels.

"We are committed to continued growth in Chicago, so it is important to have ample workspace that is comfortable and inviting and also fosters innovation, teamwork and fun," said bswift CEO Rich Gallun.

For renovations to the 12th-floor space, bswift partnered with Milwaukee-based design firm Kahler Slater, a leader in designing workspaces that reflect and reinforce a company's culture. Kahler Slater has been named one of the Best Small & Medium Workplaces in the nation by the Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE magazine for the tenth year in a row. "Responding to bswift's rapid growth with an expanded workspace that reflects the company's unique culture is exciting," noted Glenn Roby, Principal, Business Environments Team Leader, Kahler Slater.

John Balanoff of CMC Builds, Inc., is bswift's construction manager, and Nikki Kern of Jones Lang LaSalle completed the transaction on behalf of the building, 10 South Riverside Plaza. John Kinsella of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented bswift.

In 2013, bswift added more than 150 new employees, which exceeded its plan for the year (see the joint announcement with Chicago Mayor Emanuel), and more than 70 employees have joined the company in 2014 to date. "We're fortunate to have our headquarters in Chicago -- a city where innovation is thriving in the technology, insurance and health care business sectors. Our location gives us a competitive advantage in hiring the best and the brightest out there, and our expansive new office space is a reflection of that. We remain confident in our continued growth and leadership in the benefits and exchange market," said Gallun.

Enterprises are moving to the cloud faster than most of us in security expected. CIOs are going from 0 to 100 in cloud adoption and leaving security teams in the dust. Once cloud is part of an enterprise stack, it’s unclear who has responsibility for the protection of applications, services, and data. When cloud breaches occur, whether active compromise or a publicly accessible database, the blame must fall on both service providers and users. In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Ben Johnson, C...

Should they be cautious though? Absolutely. The truth is that DevOps and the enterprise are at best strange bedfellows. The movement has its roots in t...
