“We are proud to support the Food 4 Kids – Plano Program and are thrilled at the opportunity to make a difference in our community to end childhood hunger,” said John McCain, President and CEO of NTT DATA, Inc. “We believe it’s important to the future of our community’s vitality, and are honored to support programs like Food 4 Kids whose dedication is to improve the quality of life for children, and strengthen our communities.”
The Food 4 Kids – Plano program provides backpacks full of nonperishable, kid-friendly food for them to take home on Friday afternoons. Children take home the backpacks and return them on Monday so they can be filled again for the next weekend. The program has grown to 330 schools, and approximately 11,000 hungry children in Dallas and surrounding counties receive backpacks full of food each weekend during the school year. It costs approximately $5 to fill each backpack with enough food to provide for about 60 percent of the child’s weekend nutritional needs.
"No one should ever go hungry, especially our children. Plano Council Members and I believe community engagement is one of the cornerstones of our city’s success,” said Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere. “The Food 4 Kids program of the North Texas Food Bank is a collaborative effort among community partners that brings us together not only to feed children for weekends, but to nourish and inspire their souls for a lifetime.”
