SkyCross Named to the 2014 Red Herring Top 100 North America

SkyCross, a leading global designer and manufacturer of advanced antenna and RF solutions, announced today it is a winner of the 2014 Red Herring Top 100 North America Award, joining a prestigious list of the year's most promising private technology ventures.

Red Herring selects the Top 100 by analyzing approximately 3,000 cutting edge companies and technologies, recognizing those that are positioned to grow at very rapid rates. This year, C-level executives from 300 finalist companies presented in Monterey, California, including SkyCross CEO Ben Naskar. From May 14-16, these highly-innovative finalist companies shared strategies for leading change in a variety of technological sectors and discussed drivers for successful entrepreneurship.

Red Herring’s selection criteria include evaluating technological innovation, overall business strategy, management strength, financial performance and customer acquisition.

“In 2014, selecting the top 100 achievers was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “In fact, we had the toughest time in years because so many entrepreneurs had crossed significant milestones so early. But after much thought, rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across North America to the top 100 winners. We believe SkyCross embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. SkyCross should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong.”

The Red Herring award reflects SkyCross' progress in developing antenna and RF solutions that significantly increase data rates and overall performance. Earlier this year, Deutsche Telekom released field test results of SkyCross’ LTE-Advanced MIMO technology that delivered a best-in-class user experience by enhancing performance across loaded networks under all conditions, augmenting peak data rates, improving indoor performance, and growing cell size. The demo was a significant milestone in the development of LTE-A technology.

“We are honored to be recognized among many other impressive companies as Red Herring Top 100 North America company,” said Ben Naskar, CEO of SkyCross. “With our strategic and innovative approach to wireless communication solutions, we’ve experienced accelerated growth and market interest over the past year. Through these successes, we believe we demonstrate the drive, industry leadership and dedication that deserves Red Herring recognition.”

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...
I recently attended and was a speaker at the 4th International Internet of @ThingsExpo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to attend this event last year and I wrote a blog from that show talking about how the “Enterprise Impact of IoT” was a key theme of last year’s show. I was curious to see if the same theme would still resonate 365 days later and what, if any, changes I would see in the content presented.

Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...

The cloud. Like a comic book superhero, there seems to be no problem it can’t fix or cost it can’t slash. Yet making the transition is not always easy and production environments are still largely on premise. Taking some practical and sensible steps to reduce risk can also help provide a basis for a successful cloud transition. A plethora of surveys from the likes of IDG and Gartner show that more than 70 percent of enterprises have deployed at least one or more cloud application or workload. Y...
