According to a report issued by KFMB in San Diego, a link to which can be found here, several San Diego wildfires have burned at least 18,000 acres of land. Tens of thousands of residents around North San Diego County were ordered to evacuate, and dozens of structures have been lost in the flames. These fires appear to have been the product of a combination of severe drought conditions and high winds generated by Santa Ana conditions that descended on the county earlier this week. According to an additional report published by KFMB that can be found here, one person has been found dead in these wildfires. 

Damage from wildfires can affect buildings in several different ways. Flames will obviously burn through structures and create a pattern of destruction, but smoke can also inflict a tremendous amount of damage on any building. In addition, water from fire hoses can leave behind odors and the possibility that mold will form inside of walls and below floorboards in buildings that have been doused in an effort to control the flames.
