The Institute for Healthcare Information Technology (IHIT) is pleased to announce the release of its recently completed Georgia Healthcare IT Workforce Readiness Survey.
The survey, which includes insight from Healthcare IT Suppliers (vendors) and Purchasers (hospitals and clinicians) across Georgia, gauges the status of their plans to expand and hire from within the state, as well as their perceptions of how well-equipped Georgia’s educational institutions are to provide qualified Healthcare IT candidates.
Among the survey’s findings, there are more than 4,700 Healthcare IT jobs available in the state of Georgia, representing more than 79% of respondents. Additionally, the survey revealed an opportunity to improve efforts to fill positions that are perceived to be difficult to fill, such as Data Modelers, Business Intelligence, IT Auditors, and Information Architects.
“Clearly there will be increased demand for specialized healthcare technology roles, and the workforce readiness survey provides early insight as we work to align business and state resources to address the challenges that lie ahead,” stated Tino Mantella, IHIT board member and CEO of the Technology Association of Georgia.
David Hartnett, IHIT board member and Senior Vice President (Interim), Economic Development for the Metro Atlanta Chamber added, “The survey validates IHIT’s mission of improving lives through healthcare IT, as Georgia continues to lead the way in providing jobs in this growing industry.”
IHIT worked with Porter Research and Billian’s HealthDATA to conduct the online survey, which included more than 300 qualified participants who were knowledgeable about their organization’s Healthcare IT growth and recruitment needs over the next 3-5 years.
