SAIPAN, NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS -- (Marketwired) -- 05/26/14 -- A civil society delegate from the United States has released a prelude statement for the SIDS Final Preparatory Committee Meeting in June 2014 at United Nations Department of Sustainable Development (New York) regarding new voluntary commitments and partnerships for sustainable development, climate change and creation of global partnerships to help enhance biodiversity and economy in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The consultation statement released to United Nations Department of Sustainable Development from Cary Lee Peterson (a main NGO representative to the United Nations and an accredited IGO representative to European Parliament) provided details on the plans that are being implemented and deployed by major groups and civil society organizations at United Nations and European Parliament, which are thematic supporters for delegations, awareness, and post-2015 development on sustainable energy solutions, anti-corruption and human trafficking, sustainable housing, and economic development in Mariana Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, Mauritius, Guinea Bissau, Belize, Guyana, Samoan Islands, Micronesia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.
Peterson ' s action plan for SIDS discusses current and future development for international trading commerce between the Asia-Pacific, Americas, Persian Gulf, and Eastern Europe to create job opportunities through broader supply chains for export-import goods, energy efficiency solutions, rural development, in addition to more educational programs on human rights and social development within local communities.
Major groups, as ECCO2-GP continue to generate new ideas, deliverables from civil society commitments and launch of partnerships to raise awareness through forums, meetings, and conferences as 2014 Third International Conference on Small Islands Developing States that will be held from 1 to 4 September2014 at the Faleata Sports Complex in Apia, Independent State of Samoa.
