Advanced Disposal Signs Fleet-wide Multi-Year Agreement to Deploy DriveCam powered by Lytx Video-based Safety Program

Lytx, Inc. (formerly DriveCam Inc.), a global leader in delivering driver safety and compliance solutions, today announced that it has signed a full-fleet deployment agreement with Advanced Disposal, the largest privately-owned environmental services company and one of the top five solid waste companies in the United States. The agreement covers the deployment of the DriveCam powered by Lytx video-based safety solution in 2,800 Advanced Disposal vehicles.

Following Advanced Disposal’s large expansion in 2012, the company decided to expand its use of the DriveCam® Program across its entire fleet and add Lytx’s fleet tracking solution to maximize fuel efficiency and productivity. Advanced Disposal services more than 2.3 million residential customers, as well as more than 302,000 commercial, industrial and construction customers. They collect over 7 million tons of waste annually.

“Driver safety is of critical importance in any industry, especially an industry like waste services that operates heavy vehicles in high-traffic areas,” said Brandon Nixon, chief executive officer and chairman for Lytx, Inc. “We are proud to now serve five of the top six U.S. waste fleets—including Advanced Disposal in this new, expanded capacity—and expect to continue to improve the safety of their drivers, their company reputation, and those they encounter on the road.”

“DriveCam has been an excellent training tool for our company. It has helped our drivers improve their skills and further enforces our companies ‘Service First. Safety Always.’ culture,” said Richard Burke, president of Advanced Disposal. “We are excited about the improved safety results that will be gained by rolling out this tool to our entire collection fleet.”

DriveCam powered by Lytx improves safety by combining video with predictive analytics, real-time driver feedback and coaching, resulting in significant reductions in collision-related costs and improved miles per gallon (MPG). Using the patented Lytx Engine, the DriveCam Program identifies and prioritizes risk so the carrier can focus on the drivers who need the most coaching. The end-to-end workflow makes managing the program easy and drives results by tracking both driving and coaching improvement. An in-vehicle device captures driving behavior events, which are reviewed and scored by trained professionals, and then passed on to the fleet for use in coaching drivers.

Fleets manage the DriveCam Program through the DriveCam Online® web-based platform. With 24/7 secure access, DriveCam Online provides the important information fleets need to monitor fleet risk and prioritize what's needed to maximize a safety program, along with providing the necessary tools for coaching drivers to improve their driving behavior.

Manufacturing has widely adopted standardized and automated processes to create designs, build them, and maintain them through their life cycle. However, many modern manufacturing systems go beyond mechanized workflows to introduce empowered workers, flexible collaboration, and rapid iteration. Such behaviors also characterize open source software development and are at the heart of DevOps culture, processes, and tooling.
Containers are revolutionizing the way we deploy and maintain our infrastructures, but monitoring and troubleshooting in a containerized environment can still be painful and impractical. Mobile, social, Big Data, and cloud have fundamentally changed the way we live. “Anytime, anywhere” access to data and information is no longer a luxury; it’s a requirement, in both our personal and professional lives. For IT organizations, this means pressure has never been greater to deliver meaningful services to the business and customers.
There are many considerations when moving applications from on-premise to cloud. It is critical to understand the benefits and also challenges of this migration. A successful migration will result in lower Total Cost of Ownership, yet offer the same or higher level of robustness. Migration to cloud shifts computing resources from your data center, which can yield significant advantages provided that the cloud vendor an offer enterprise-grade quality for your application.
Overgrown applications have given way to modular applications, driven by the need to break larger problems into smaller problems. Similarly large monolithic development processes have been forced to be broken into smaller agile development cycles. Looking at trends in software development, microservices architectures meet the same demands. Additional benefits of microservices architectures are compartmentalization and a limited impact of service failure versus a complete software malfunction....
The Internet of Things (IoT) is growing rapidly by extending current technologies, products and networks. By 2020, Cisco estimates there will be 50 billion connected devices. Gartner has forecast revenues of over $300 billion, just to IoT suppliers. Now is the time to figure out how you’ll make money – not just create innovative products. With hundreds of new products and companies jumping into the IoT fray every month, there’s no shortage of innovation. Despite this, McKinsey/VisionMobile data...
DevOps has often been described in terms of CAMS: Culture, Automation, Measuring, Sharing.
