QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/28/14 -- Petrolia (TSX VENTURE:PEA) announces that at its Annual General and Special Meeting held on May 28, 2014, shareholders elected Mr. Jacques Bourgeois, Mr. David McCallum, Mr. Albert Wildgen, Mr. Myron Tetreault and Mr. Charles Boulanger as directors. Mr. Tetreault and Mr. Boulanger were respectively appointed Executive Chairman and Lead Director of the board.
All other items on the agenda were also approved, including the ratification of the Company's 10% rolling stock option plan, an amendment to its by-laws and the reconfirmation of the Shareholders' Rights Plan. The Company has received conditional approval from the TSX Venture Exchange for these three items. The Company's shareholders also approved the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as the new auditors of the Company and authorized the directors to fix their remuneration. Following the shareholders meeting, Mr. Alexandre Gagnon was appointed as an additional director.
In connection with various appointments, Petrolia granted 405,000 stock options to certain directors and officers of the Corporation at an exercise price of $0.67 per share expiring May 27, 2019.
Petrolia is a junior oil and gas exploration company which owns interests in oil and gas licenses covering 16,000 km2 (4 million acres), which represents almost 23% of the Quebec territory under lease. The closing of a partnership on Anticosti Island has led to the creation of Hydrocarbons Anticosti LP, a limited partnership in which Petrolia holds a 21,7% interest. In order to carry out the project's operations, Petrolia Anticosti Inc., a subsidiary of Petrolia, was designated project operator.
