LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2014) - Agritek Holdings Inc. (OTCQB: AGTK) (www.Agritekholdings.com), a leader in Compassionate Care Technology, today announced that the Company has executed an exclusive celebrity marketing agreement and contract with Tara Reid, star of the hit Movies Sharknado, American Pie and others on behalf of the new Mont Blunt E-cigs brand (www.MontBlunt.com).
Her film debut came in A Return to Salem's Lot, followed by The Big Lebowski, Urban Legend, and American Pie. She has since portrayed supporting as well as lead roles in several films, including Dr. T & the Women, Josie and the Pussycats, American Pie 2, Van Wilder, My Boss's Daughter, Alone in the Dark, American Reunion and Sharknado (2013).
After moving to Hollywood in 1997, Reid transitioned to movies, landing her breakout role in 1998's The Big Lebowski. which has gone on to become a cult favorite. Later that same year she appeared in Cruel Intentions and Urban Legend, each of which grossed just under $40 million in the US and led to two sequels. Reid found her first taste of real mainstream success when she portrayed the role of the virginal Vickie in American Pie (1999), which grossed over $100 million in US. The film also marked her first film to reach #1 at the box office. In 2001, she reprised the role in American Pie 2, which opened to $45 million and grossed over $145 million in the US, almost 50% more than its predecessor.
Following the success of American Pie 2, Reid starred in a number of commercial and critical misfires including Josie and the Pussycats and Van Wilder. She also starred as the youngest daughter in Robert Altman's Dr. T and the Women, alongside Richard Gere. She returned to the small screen as a recurring character on the NBC sitcom, Scrubs, appearing in 11 episodes of Season 3.
The Movie Sharknado starring Tara was the surprise hit of 2013. Because of the social media buzz, the original campy horror film delivered a record 2.1 million total viewers on it's third airing, which made it the most-watched encore for an original movie in Syfy history.
"We are extremely pleased to work closely with part of Tara Reid's management team and have her be our exclusive celebrity representative for the new Mont Blunt E-cig line. Tara has publically admitted to being tobacco smoker for years, and we believe the Mont Blunt brand as the premium line is a perfect fit for Tara. We are excited that her over 200,000 Twitter followers, celebrity appearances, magazine and television events and our new ad campaigns including www.TaraReid.com, will heighten the visibility and awareness of the Mont Blunt brand," stated B. Michael Friedman, CEO of Agritek Holdings Inc.
Tara stated, "I'm so excited to join the prestigious Mont Blunt group and their brand. This comes at a time when I am making lifestyle changes that are better for me and I encourage all cigarette smokers to do the same, smoke free and live rich."
In a recent study reported by BBC news, smokers who use e-cigarettes to quit are more likely to succeed than those who use willpower alone or buy nicotine replacement therapies, such as patches or gum, a study suggests. The survey of nearly 6,000 smokers found a fifth had quit with the aid of e-cigarettes. That was 60% higher than those who did not use the devices, the study said.
E-cigarette use has shot up in recent years. Action on Smoking and Health estimate there are more than 2m people using them -- triple the number from two years ago. Users experience the sensation of smoking by inhaling a vapor which contains a concentration of nicotine.
Lead researcher Prof Robert West, one of the UK's leading experts in this field, said: "E-cigarettes could substantially improve public health because of their widespread appeal and the huge health gains associated with stopping smoking." A Department of Health spokeswoman said: "E-cigarettes are not risk free, but they carry a lower risk to health than smoking tobacco and may help people who want to stop smoking."

Fact is, enterprises have significant legacy voice infrastructure that’s costly to replace with pure IP solutions. How can we bring this analog infrastructure into our shiny new cloud applications? There are proven methods to bind both legacy voice applications and traditional PSTN audio into cloud-based applications and services at a carrier scale. Some of the most successful implementations leverage WebRTC, WebSockets, SIP and other open source technologies. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Da...

In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Claude Remillard, Principal Program Manager in Developer Division at Microsoft, contrasted how his team used config as code and immutable patterns for continuous delivery of microservices and apps to the cloud. He showed how the immutable patterns helps developers do away with most of the complexity of config as code-enabling scenarios such as rollback, zero downtime upgrades with far greater simplicity. He also demoed building immutable pipelines in the cloud ...

Today we can collect lots and lots of performance data. We build beautiful dashboards and even have fancy query languages to access and transform the data. Still performance data is a secret language only a couple of people understand. The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like “How is my application doing” but no id...

In IT, we sometimes coin terms for things before we know exactly what they are and how they’ll be used. The resulting terms may capture a common set of aspirations and goals – as “cloud” did broadly for on-demand, self-service, and flexible computing. But such a term can also lump together diverse and even competing practices, technologies, and priorities to the point where important distinctions are glossed over and lost.

All clouds are not equal. To succeed in a DevOps context, organizations should plan to develop/deploy apps across a choice of on-premise and public clouds simultaneously depending on the business needs. This is where the concept of the Lean Cloud comes in - resting on the idea that you often need to relocate your app modules over their life cycles for both innovation and operational efficiency in the cloud. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at19th Cloud Expo, Valentin (Val) Bercovici, CTO of Soli...

Information technology is an industry that has always experienced change, and the dramatic change sweeping across the industry today could not be truthfully described as the first time we've seen such widespread change impacting customer investments. However, the rate of the change, and the potential outcomes from today's digital transformation has the distinct potential to separate the industry into two camps: Organizations that see the change coming, embrace it, and successful leverage it; and...

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to simplify and streamline our lives by automating routine tasks that distract us from our goals. This promise is based on the ubiquitous deployment of smart, connected devices that link everything from industrial control systems to automobiles to refrigerators. Unfortunately, comparatively few of the devices currently deployed have been developed with an eye toward security, and as the DDoS attacks of late October 2016 have demonstrated, this oversight can ...
